View Full Version : The future of the Swans
Firstly i need to state that this is not a troll (I'm sure you've heard that before) but more a post due to my ignorance.
I have a reasonable handle on lists of a lot of clubs and feel i know roughly where they are heading but have no clue as to Sydneys.
I know the common consensus is that once you lose your older players you are headed for the bottom, and on the surface this appears to be true, but as a stock trader i can assure you they don't find gold on the surface.
So my question is what talent do you have coming through, i do know of Craig Bird and he is a great pick, and do you have some information on them?
Due to the fact that you don't play in the VFL it makes it more difficult to keep up with your players but i do have an interest in each clubs list and i actually used to play for Frenchs Forest and North Shore, many moons ago.
Any information would be appreciated.
Paul Roos is developing a completely new game plan where all key position players are no longer required and our entire team will consist of midfield utilities.

Did the real Merv go straight back to Mexico or play for North Shore after the Swans:confused:
Taking you as really genuine and in saying that.... poster Liz... will give you a better reply
We like you, don't see a lot of the up and comers, (went to Canberra a few times) but bloody boring when it's 30. 23 to 4.1 at 3/4 time
Swans have a completely different escalation path they hold them back till they are cherry ripe ready
Laidlaw Barlow Jack &Schmidt will make it
O'Keefe II sound like he has got it but has (due to inj) hasn't yet
Moore would be a star for Lastmond
Grundy needs to pull his jock strap out of his crack this year but he has shown something previously
Brabazon who knows? .. I like him... but seems slow (nearly as slow as Jobe but better skilled on both feet:D) but it just might be something else holding him back?
We do lack KP's.... but Roosey is currently in Japan studing Kamakazee mosquito squad raids:thumbsu:

What the hell are they?
And I agree, wait for Liz to post something very detailed about our younger players! :thumbsu:

..and he's not joking.
Everyone seems to think our future is as barren as Roosy's lolly snakes box after Bazza's been unleashed on it, but people who know better think otherwise. The way we keep going now will only majorly affect us if we keep going until our important senior players retire (2009, 2010?), or if we are struck down with a horrible run of injuries (hope it doesn't happen, knock on wood).
I'm expecting next years' draft to be chock full of KPP's, giving a clear and ingenious reason on why Roos has stocked our list full to the brim with small midfielders.
Oh, and since your a mod, I was never really expecting a troll anyway, unless you wanted Ert to chase you with his kettle and Robbie to set Micky O on you :)

We are in the process of taking 1 step back so that we can take 2 steps forward
Probably would get there quicker if our magoos played in the VFL rather than the Canberra league

There is plenty of depth there it just needs developing by giving them game time.
If players form is down promote with confidence.
Thornton is another.
Never mind about Brabazon speed he is very fast and has one of the best endurances on the list.
