About
Began 2006 struggling with illness and didn’t play until round four, but the 31-year-old managed every game from then on to take his career tally to 222, and was terrific all year. Won plenty of hard ball in the midfield, including consecutive 29-possession outings in rounds 10 and 11 against Brisbane and Melbourne respectively, and averaged over 21 touches across the season. Regularly provided a spark in the midfield to get his teammates going, and often went forward and had a significant impact, kicking two goals on three occasions. Finished the season very strongly and was 11th in the EW Copeland Trophy voting.
