Such a classic game. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why Monfries tried that banana. That kick from Willo (in the wet as well), just goes to show just how good a kick he is.
Yes it was the game in the wet phil. Willo is our best shot at goal, but that kick was a true shocker. Almost missed lol

I was there under the stand in th forward pocket of Southern stand looking straight up at Monfries when he missed it. The siren rang and I threw my 4 year old up in the air till she almost touched the roof. Magic day. But the highlight was that Willo mark and goal from 40 in piss down rain with just a couple of minutes left to put us in front.

I went to the Hawks Roos final this year but the last game i sore before that was this 1, what a game to attent, awsome!!! Willow what a hero.

Don't forget David Hille attempted a similar shot (to that of "Hollywood" Monfries) a little earlier that quarter. And the result was the same.
I was at the game, Punt Road end, with a group of rabid Hawk supporters & members. Who all went absolutely apeshit when that siren sounded.
I also have a copy of the game on DVD - and my heart is in my mouth EVERY time I watch it! I know the result, but it doesn't stop me from getting nervous and anxious about it! ;)

Actually, running in the wet, it's not as bad an option as you think. I would have gone drop punt, but in the wet, that would often go through. Less chance of sliding off the boot. Anyway, all good in hindsight. I just thought he would have been called a genius if it went through, but instead he went into the "what the" file.:)
