View Full Version : Finals Football
Now i know your all gonna do the "Lets take it one game at a time" and im all for that but being 8-5 after the win against Adelaide, I'm now for the first time this season seriously thinking finals. I'll be disappointed if we dont make it from here.
Now that ive put the mocker on us, ill end this post :D

Our chances are realistic now Jod, but the next few weeks will be telling for the players. Geelong at home are not going to be easy for the club next week and that may throw us back into the pack again if we lose.
We need to get that 2 game buffer ahead of other sides to be comfortable with the fact we will play finals. The competition is so close to the point if we lose 2 games in a row and depending on the other sides, we could be tossed out of the eight.
All in all, for the side most widely tipped to finish last, we have proven our doubters wrong.:D

Prior to this week our remaining 10 opponents occupied the top11 spots, meaning we have literally the toughest run home possible. However, if we beat Geelong this week we will be seriously pushing for a top 4 spot, and call me delusional if you must, but with the 3 games after that all at Subi (Bombers, Freo, Pies in that order) we are a very good chance of securing a top8 spot before rd18. But, i believe we have to secure a top8 spot in the next 4 weeks as our run home is very difficult.
But yeah, i would be dissapointed too if we didn't make the 8.

Same here, the run home is one of the toughest in the league
Wherever we finish, we can still put the finger in the air to all those who had us finishing last - even behind the frockers!

Realistically though it only seems harder because of what has happened this season. Freo, Geelong, Melbourne, Collingwood, all playing better than anyone thought. So suddenly an away match against Geelong seems tougher, the Derby seems a bit harder and Collingwood at home is suddenly not so easy.
But lets be fair to our boys aswell, we have improved immensely and im sure those teams are dreading playing us as much as we are them. The run home certainly does look harder now given how the other teams are going.
But i reckon we'll make it!! A bit of confidence never hurt anyone.

Fair enough, our home games are certainly winnable the way we're playing but away from Subi we still havent proved ourselves. If we beat Geelong this week then anythings possible
