Kerr, Priddis & Stenglein

I'm still shocked we were able to take the pies to extra time with the team we fielded that night (Missing Kerr, Waters, Butler and a fair few others)

The sooner Masten, Hurn, Selwood Jr, Butler and Ebert develop the better.

We may not have the fastest midfield in the future but we will have one of the strongest and most effective around the clearances ready to feed it out to our runners (not sure who they are just yet)

Pace is over rated anyway (so I keep telling myself) clean ball movement through the corridor and hard running for 4 quarters wins games - look at the Cats, the only one with pace is Ablett with the rest being great endurance players and big bodies, same goes for the lions and aka

look at the way we were able to take it up to port in the first final with one of the slowest midfields in existence compared to one with an unlimited amount of pace, we lost because we ran out of legs in the end and had nothing to do with line breaking pace but hardness at the man and ball.

I'm happy with the way we are moving, Hurn & Butler will make an immediate impact in the midfield and so too Waters and LeCras if the coaching staff believe that's where they will play there best football.

Outside mids don't take as long to develop as inside guys because they don't really need to be a strong and they wont take the same kind of hits. Notice how quickly Rosa moved into the first 22.

When the times comes and our inside guys are developed I'm sure we'll draft a few good outside mids and we'll be set.

Actually, if you look at the way we've drafted it's somewhat in order of development time. Last year we went for KPP, who take the longest to develop, and this year we got some inside smalls, who take the next longest. I wouldn't be shocked if we stocked up on outside, tall and pacy types in the next 2 drafts.

The only thing we've overlooked is a ruckman but I suppose we're backing in Cox and Seaby as they're both still quite young.

Our top mids would be Kerr, Stenglein and Priddis with Embley Braun Flecther and co for support. However with the exception of Kerr the rest cannot destroy the oppositon as Judd and Cousins can.

So A LOT MORE SUPPORT is now needed from guys like Rosa, Butler, Hurn, Nickoski and co. These guys are now no longer second string support acts they have to lift their intensity and hardness.

A big positive I can see with having Stinga and Cox in the Midfield is their leadership skills. We are not going to be as damaging without the 2 brownlow medallist's but there is loads of skill and potential to call on with the guys already mentioned. I believe allot will depend on how well Coxy and Syinga can rouse the midfield troops when required. You can see how Coxy has stepped up in the last year and in particular since Judd and Cuz's departures with the interviews and blogs he has done. Stinga's leaderships skill have always been great. Priddis is growing to as his elevation to the group showed.

Fingers crossed, Kerr will continue to show the maturity he did in the second half of last year as he will be tagged to the MAX this year!!!

Kerr
Cox
Stenglein

Embley, Fletcher, Priddis, Braun, Hurn, Selwood, Butler and Rosa are the other main mids. As well as Masten, Ebert, McNamara, Armstrong and Selwood.
There is also the guys who play other positions that can play as mid such as: LeCras, Waters, Nicoski and Staker

Theres a lot of depth there and a lot of talent. Hopefully we won't miss Cuz and Judd too much.

Look for Jmac to be like Pridda was this year.:thumbsu:
