Darcy Daniher will undergo shoulder surgery this week after partially dislocating it during a tackling drill at training last week.

Club doctor, Bruce Reid, said MRI results revealed Daniher would require surgery to repair a slight cartilage tear and stabilise the weakened front of his shoulder.
“Darcy was caught out wide in a tackle which caused a subluxation of his shoulder,” Reid said.
“This means that his shoulder just moved out of joint very slightly.
“As a result, he will have an arthroscope in the next couple of days where they will staple up the cartilage tear.
“The injury was only minor and he will not require full reconstructive surgery.”

Following surgery this week, Daniher will be rested for four weeks before resuming training on the bike, running and rehab weights over the following two weeks. By the eight week mark of his recovery program, Daniher is expected to have resumed all light training and will be training in the main group by the end of February. Reid expects Daniher to be ready to play by the start of next season.

Meanwhile, Scott Gumbleton suffered a slight strain to his hamstring on Saturday but medical staff are confident he will resume full training within three weeks.

Dissapointing start for the kid. Hopefully they repair the damage in his shoulder so it doesn't cause him any long term issues

The same thing happened to me when I was playing footy.

Went to the doc and he said I got subluxation, he sent me to the "Physio Theropist" and he said don't play footy or any other sports for 4 weeks and he just did some ultra sound through my shoulder, my shoulder hurt for a couple of weeks but after that when you strengthen the muscle up its easy sailing after that. No problems yet for me.

Lloydy said on the radio that they werent going to operate on Daniher, did it get worse or something?

Seems like we are starting to get quite a few injuries already, if you believe everything you read.

Lloyds is an absolute tank. No wonder he tore apart a kid. Daniher picked the wrong person to bump into.

Eveyone gets a few injuries at this time of year. Not much they could do about Daniher's though. Every year you will have a certain number sore spots , strains and a few muscle tears.
