Good to see these young fellas get drafted to Melbourne and Hawthorn today!
Good luck to them and bad luck to Trvor Oliver, Josh Cubillo, Peter Rolfe and a few more who got over looked!

Josh Cubillo was dam unlucky in my opinion! He's a great player!
Oliver and Cubillo should have been drafted in front of Stokes. Both have proved that they can play league football in proper competitions (WAFL and SANFL). Stokes couldn't get a game with Sturt.
Rolfe was also unlucky. He seemed to go alright just looking at his statistics in the NAB U18 Carnival.

I agree with you there!
I rekon the reason why they didnt get drafted is the fact Cubillo and Oliver have not got a lot of pace and Cubill has a woeful kick!
They will still do good in there respected comps thow!

i'd have to disagree with you there mate. after watching cubillo's final series for north adelaide all of his kicks seemed to hit there targets. on the other hand i agree that if these 2 players were serious about getting picked up they'd have to work on their pace even though they already find enough of the ball.

Yeah and i bet you that the kicks didnt go more than 30 metres!
To put a bloke down before he has had a chance to play is pretty poor form. re (Stokes). The fact is he has made an opportunity for himself and must of showed a lot of potential. If your such an expert why aren't you a recruiting manager at your own AFL club.

Well a club would be stupid to have a kid from Darwin to do their recruiting. I've seen Stokes in the last couple of years playing up here and he hasn't shown anything that makes me think he will make it at AFL level. After all, he couldn't get a senior game for Sturt. From what I have heard he works pretty hard at his footy and if he is 100% dedicated good luck to him but at this stage I have my doubts whether he will get a game at Box Hill in 2008.

Cameron when playing for Darwin was always used as an onballer with the occassional rest at half foward. Hawthorn would have recruited him to play as a forward pocket type like the Davey boys.
Camerons attack on the ball, defensive pressure and hardness is very good for a player his size. The query is that he is not a noted goal kicker and whether he will have to necessary smarts and tricks around goal to make an impact in the forward line.

Can I ask you if you thought Frog Davey or even aron Davey would make it to the AFL when they played together for palmo? They were just part of a top NTFL combination, you can add Matty stokes as well? Did you believe they could cut it in the AFL, or were you too young to see them in magpie colours?
Put it this way, to make it simpler, as all three are vital cogs in their clubs. Did you see Alwyn Davey play for Palmerston seniors? and did you believe he was a gun?? I did, know he was a gun, and from his highlight package so far he has confirmed that.
As I hate Essendon I have faith that C. Stokes can combine with C. Rioli in the Brown and Gold and make up for the fact that Hawthorn overlooked Frog in the Draft/s. also overlooked Matty Stokes. plus many others from darwin (NT) dozens in fact that could have chopped up the AFL. Mark West, Edward Darcy and many more.

I watched the SANFL final series and I think your remark is way off. I think that Cubillo's games were good and he had numerous possessions that included kicks over 30 metres that hit targets.
Cubillo as an 18 year old played in a SANFL grandfinal more than held his own. He also has played at a higher level than other kids picked up? So I would say he was pretty unlucky not to get drafted.
Another good season may see him there yet.

i have a few friends at north adelaide and they all have high opinion of cubillo and they were expecting not to have him this year . i watched him play in the reservs gf the year b4 when they won by a record score and he got best on ground and his attack on the footy and work rate was great but to be honest he wasnt overly quick and unfortunatly being a good athlete means more than bein a good footballer to afl scouts but im sure he will get his chance if he has a good season again. Black roo u mentioned he more then held his own in senior gf how did he go in the rest of the finals cause really to be drafted thats when u have to really stand out in sanfl as we have seen in recent years such as frog, stokesy , matty whelan and other non nt players like corey jones , skipworth and paul thomas
