We are ****ed. We have 2 ruckmen on the entire list. Both injured means we'll be playing Graham or Lynch in the ruck (sounds ridiculous? it is).
Is there a reason we didn't pick up Michael ****ing Griffiths???
Or ANYBODY that can ruck?
**** me what is going on!?!?

Seaby will have a Super season :thumbsu:

Isn't one of our new rookie listed players a ruckman?? I know he wouldn't be ready just yet but he could be ready for any unforseen disaster as an injury to both at once

we picked up Sullivan who is a ruckman.
Our midfield is going to be like a bunch of tough sharks now seeing as a fair bit of class has left.
If it came righ down to it we could even pinch hit Staker in the ruck.
Just let our new bunch of hungry sharks hunt the ball off the opposition ruckmen a bit like the pies do.

hungry jacks sharks :D
yep 2 + 1 rookie Ruckmen
pinch-hitters= graham, staker, lynch...or we could put Kerr on stingers shoulders for the tap and hope kerr jumps off quick enough to rove his own tapwork

Lynch would outruck a skinny git like Matthew Kruezer, Dean Putt or any of the other ruckmen drafted anyday. Kennedy rucked for Carlton. Staker can ruck. Graham can ruck. These KPPs practice rucking believe it or not and can do it. I like having these blokes do the ruck work. Gives us another midfielder around the ground which Seaby cant really provide.
Michael Griffiths wasnt picked up because hes slower then a canoest paddling the Titanic. He trained with Collinbgwood for 2 months and they wouldnt even use a rookie pick on him yet we are expected to use a PSD pick on him. Dont be silly. If he was good enough he would of been taken by now. He clearly isnt.

To be honest, it could be worse.
Our best ruckman could be an 18 year old kid who hasn't even played an AFL game yet.
Or we could have recruited Kepler Bradley as our backup.
Really there aren't too many sides who have reliable ruck stocks more than two deep.

Or we could of drafted Tristen Cartledge. Yuck. Even Guy Richards must be turning over in his grave

Doesn't change the fact that Kepler was recruited as a backup ruckman.
Or is he just going to run around distributing bottle caps.
Got KP as your buddy yet?:)

Nice bit of 'spin-doctoring' against the No 1 draft pick :)
But you're right of course.

Like our dearly beloved departed Mick Malthouse said '..Ruckmen don't really matter much..'
Of course he was probably soured off rucks in general by his loss of faith in the lumbering lumber-jack M Gardiner.
We've got plenty of guys who can contest in the bounce ruck lottery, all over the paddock. It's now about what else they can do, and how well all the 'little' scavengers can best read each knock/tap.
Somewhere near the upper part of this town one would think...

She'll be right MG, there was utter crap this year, better to leave the shit at Shit Creek. :thumbsu:

Shoulders? Pfft. Didn't you see his stats? He managed a whole hitout on his own!
5'10" Daniel Kerr got a hitout in AFL football! Shocking!

Thats right. Just go and list every teams second and third rucks and is one of ours is injured thats who Graham, Staker, Lynch and co will go up against.
Look at Freo late last year when Sandilands went down, they played a smaller more mobile ruck and he did ok.
Not the end of the world.

And if Kerr gets injured we'll be putting a frontline midfield on the park identical to the horribly undermanned one which saw us drop out of the finals in straight sets.
On the whole, I can see the argument for focusing on midfield depth this draft.
staker, lynch, graham, cones and sullivan. whilst they arent the best ruckmen im sure they could do some backup work. if coxy got injured, seaby would fill in for about 70% of the game and all 3 of staker, lynch and graham would fill in the rest of the time (assuming graham comes in for cox).
if both get injured, yes we are ****ed.

cones a ruckman?
cones a ruckman?
Hes ****ing surprisingly tall when you see him in person, but I doubt he can leap high enough like a Lynchy or Staker can

Name a team that wouldn't be stuffed if their best two ruckman were unable to play ?
Name a team that wouldn't be stuffed if their best two ruckman were unable to play ?
All teams would be, but to varying degrees.
If say.. Geelong lost both Ottens and Blake this year, King could have come in and done something, but if it were us, we'd be playing either pinch hitters or a ruckman without any experience or the bulk.
