Again we appear to have another continent crossing road trip for about the 3rd year running although this years is no-where near as bad as last years... here are my thoughts on the coming road trip:

PORT V FREO

If Port come with their mental states switched on they will smash Freo... however if they come expecting an easy win, or think it will just happen then we could have a similar game to the game against Melbourne earlier this year. Port have it all over Freo...

look at the actual teams... we clearly have the better Ruck department.... our midfielders should account for their best 3 in Bell, Haselby and McManus... our Defense should hold their attack with Wakelin on Croad, Bishop on Longmuir, and Wanganeen on Farmer... they have a pretty Good Defense but we have many dangerous forwards for them to stop.

Plus stuff their home record thus yeah... we play damn well at Subiaco and see no reason why this will stop. Freo are normally slow starters and we have been bursting out of the blocks lately so the game could we ll be over before the crowd finsihing getting through the gate.

OK danger game approaching.....!!!!!

PORT V SYDNEY
Sydney might still be riding high after the mid-season restructuring... also Port are yet to win a game at the SCG!
I think the SCG is the hardest ground for Port to play at because it is so small... it doesn't have the space for Port to use their best asset... their PACE.

I really think the Port selection commity should look at naming the side for this game specifically to handle the SCG. By that I think they should pick a number of talls to play at both ends of the ground and a number of hard, IN & UNDER, no-nonense type of midfielders. This being said I think the side should look something like this:

FF - FRENCH _ TREDREA _ BURGOYNE
HF - LADE _ CORNES _ DEW
C - SCHOFIELD _ GUERRA _ STEVENS
HB - MONTY _ BISHOP _ HARDWICK
FB - KINGSLEY _ WAKELIN _ WANGANEEN
F - PRIMUS _ FRANCOU _ CARR
Int - CCC _ POULTON _ BASSETT _ Jnr BURGER

* with all forwards playing out of the FF Square except Cornes, and Dew who would start up alongside Stevens.

The week leading into this game they should be doing alot of inclose and tight training drills... and plenty of body hitting work.

PORT V KANGAROOS

I haven't looked at this game too much but can someone please tell me if it is being played at Manuka Oval or Optus Oval??? I have read both places documented.

Anyway the next 2 weeks will go a long way to shaping where we finish at the end of year... if we can win atleast 2 out of 3 I think we will finish top.. otherwise we will finish 2nd or 3rd.

Cheers

It should be noted that the Swans play with bugger all talls, and lots of midfielders. This seems to work at the sCG, so why would it not work for us?

Hardwick seems to cover more ground each week - he floated into HF a couple of times against the Dogs, so he's bound to kick a bag at the SCG.

because we have been trying that since we entered the AFL and still hasn't worked ... also if they do play so many midfielders it could work to our advantage as they would have to cover our talls.

Since we've entered the AFL, the Swans have almost always had a better midfield than us. Now, this is not the case.

Yeah, we did. For all that we finished seventh, we were the only team to win in every AFL football state that year.
