Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett today officially launched the Hawks Museum at Waverley Park.
A number of Hawthorn greats including John Kennedy Snr, Allan Jeans, Graham Arthur, Peter Knights, David Parkin and Gary Ayres were in attendance to help launch the next part of the Club’s history.
The Club’s historical collection and archives had been kept under lock and key while the museum fit out and design was being completed. Club Historian Peter Haby and the Hawks Forever committee have spent the last 12 months meticulously cataloging each item for display.
Items of interest include John Kennedy’s overcoat he famously wore during his time as coach, premiership medals, cups, jumpers and team photos.
The museum will be open to the public for the first time at SuperSunday this Sunday from 11am at Waverley Park. Admission is $2

I cant wait to go the museum on saturday and see all our premieship cups and all the other memerabilia. I loved going to the one at Glenferrie but it was old and broken down but I loved it because there was all the history of us and jumpers and just lots of old stuff and I loved the big cut out of Nick Holland and getting picturs with him. He was my favourite player and he was great like we were a great club back then and now were gunna be great again. We would have to be the first club with a whole museum thats for every one to see even if your not a Hawthorn member. Were gunna make so much money with $2 and were gunna got 30000 members thats $60000 plus all the other people that are gunna want to look at all our premiership cups may andother 30000 so thats another 60000 so were gunna make another profit of $120000. Ian Roboons just the smartest CEO weve ever had that hes making money easy for the clb by just showing of the cups. Were the best club.

Have they got any "odd" items there?
Such as Jason Dunstalls helmet?
Lethals point post?
Langfords jumper after the Melbourne-merger game?
Dermott's vomit from the 89 GF? ;)

I seem to remember that Ron Barassi bought Lethal's point post quite a few years back.

.
I intended to go yesterday but there were many steps to climb in what was the grandstand and the queue was so long and slow going through, so I gave it a miss till next opportune time I'm at the club.
This is not a whinge about the stairs as fans need exercise too or the queue as I think it is great there is so much interest.
Heard Tim Watson say on SEN the other day: "All you get out of Hawthorn of late is all about their bloody new museum." All about Clarko and his honchos keeping cards close to chests, I'd say.
