Buddy Draft - My Man Thread 2008 - Expressions of interest

Well all, it's that time of the year again where we try and find 40 dedicated posters who are willing and able to help keep the 'Hawk-Eye' Forum churning along.

In it's first year this year, we had a reasonable amount of success, with some posters staying true to their 'Man', but we'd like to see more pro-activeness with this in 2008 from those who have expressed interest and have been delegated a player.

For those wondering what i'm talking about, i'll try to explain.

The point of the Hawk-Eye forum is so that articles and reports that have been compiled about a player can be posted in that players' forum so that in future years, posters on BigFooty can sit back and read through that forum, taking in all the players who have played for Hawthorn.

At the same time, those visitors to BigFooty can read the articles about that player that might date back a couple of years (or even more). At the same time, these little threads about players don't necessarily need to be just articles - they can also discuss the progress and development of the player as they remain on the Hawthorn list - and what posters feel lies in the future for that player.

There have been a few amazingly dedicated posters in that forum this year, with special mention going to delirious1 and Rexcellent for their reports on Xavier Ellis and our NSW Rookie, Thomas Kickett.

Before the semantics are decided as to which poster is assigned to which player, i'd like to try and find out first off which posters are interested in helping out.

Remember, it isn't a thing that you can do once every 6 months. You'll need to try and make a conscious effort to check up on your player (even typing up his name in Google once every couple of weeks and posting up any recent reports you find will suffice), but those who are more commited could even post a player profile/picture if they see fit.

Now that the list is confirmed, we have 44 spots 'up for grabs'.

Who's willing, able and dedicated enough to give it a shot in 2008?

For those wondering how the players will be picked, i'm thinking about following in the footsteps of the Fremantle Board.

Once 44 participants have been finalized, i'll run their names through a random number simulator to determine a mini-draft of sorts.

From there, we'll use a draft system for those 44 posters to choose the player they want to represent next year.

That's unfortunately one of the bigger problems with some of the 'lesser known' players, GALON. We'll have to think of something to write about nevertheless next year.

and for people who might be struggling to find stuff on players in BH etc just keep lookin, google, anywhere for articles, and also try to find what junior clubs they played for becoz they sometimes have info and articles that we never new about :thumbsu:

I don't think I expressed myself clearly.

Once we've got 44 people (we've got 37 at the moment, so there's only 7 spots left), i'll give everyone a number (1-44) and run the numbers through a random simulator.

From that, it should give me a 'draft order', from which we can actually hold a proper 'draft' of sorts (much like the one that was held a few weeks back).

At least this way, people get a chance to pick and choose who they want based on their position in the draft - but if you're number 44, you wont get that opportunity. :D
