Yes, yes, i'm well aware there's a thread on Kirk in the Club Roomie sub-forum, but this is where an official Kirk thread belongs, because we all love him and the heart & soul he brings to the Sydney Swans.

I'm going to start it off with one of my favourite videos. Awesome bump, and an even better recovery!

He should've been the sole captain for the Sydney Swans.

Kirk is one of our few players who would walk straight into the starting 22 of any team in the AFL.

He is also one of only a few in our team that have the respect of most opposition supporters.

Should be our stand alone captain.

Kirk is one of our few players who would walk straight into the starting 22 of any team in the AFL.

you'd like to think so, but if you read the vic media and posts by the majority of victorian BF posters and footy fans, kirk is often overlooked, yet the vics deify a workaholic plodder like scott west
kirk is a champion, for what he's done in his career, for what he puts his body through, for his undying spirit, his refusal to accept that any situation in any game is hopeless
that bump was a great moment, well, not the bump but kirk's recovery
and his talk to the players at 3/4 time v st kilda in the 05 prelim final
and his efforts (with goodes) to ALMOSt get us another flag in 06
if he had kell's skills, he WOULD be a recognised elite player
as it is, he's elite anyway, and that speaks volumes for a bloke who was overlooked by recruiters, almost lost to the swans and who we all know is NOT the most skilled player going around
thank goodness he's ours
(and he should be standalone skipper)

Incredible player.
Someone with very limited athletic ability and poor kick skills, but makes full use of every single inch of his ability to make himself into an inspirational leader and one of the first names on our team sheet.

Single-handedly held our mis-firing midfield together in the first half of the year, someone that can shut out the opposition's best midfield player while winning plenty of useful possession, and in particularly clearances, on his own. Should be the bench mark of all the less-skilled players in our side to strife to become.

Has extremely good hands in close and amazingly off-the-ball stuff and tries to help out a team mate in trouble whenever possible. Also has an amazing football sense that allows him to shut out players with far more athletic ability than he does.

Remember the latter stages of the 2006 final? He put himself on Judd and did a great job on him and we're talking about the argruably the fastest player in the AFL versus the slowest player. That's incredible.

And that's what Kirk is, an absolutely incredible player.

Kirk is a amazing player who i cannot praise enough. Both he a Kelly are arguably the best captains the Swans have ever had. Kirk may not be the most naturally talented player we have on our list but he is the player who tries the hardest and has the biggest heart. If every one of our players had half the heart of Kirk then the Swans would be practically unbeatable.
