Traded to Collingwood from Fremantle with selection No.8 in the 2006 draft for Chris Tarrant, Medhurst joins the Magpies after five seasons and 99 games with the Dockers. Was twice Fremantle’s leading goalkicker (2003, 2004), with his best season coming in 2003 when he booted 50 goals. Fell out of favour with the Fremantle selectors towards the end of 2006 and felt he needed a change. Is considered an excellent overhead mark despite standing just 178 centimetres, and with his ability to also crumb very effectively, can provide opposition coaches with match-up problems. Fremantle wanted him to bulk up to play almost as a key forward, but 25-year-old is looking to shed a few kilograms in the hope of being able to spend more time up the ground for the Magpies.

That's from collingwood website.

There's something very teddybearish about Paul - in a sweet way. Here he is at Family Day, Dec 2007.

A quote from Strauchanie's book 'Bryan Strauchan: My Story' about Medhurst.

"6. Paul Medhurst - Medibank thought he could just walk into the Lexus Center and be a cult hero. Well, get in the queue because number 59 might be at the end of the line when it comes to guernseys, but when it comes to heroes, he is the first in line. As far as playing, Medibank is an opportunistic goal sneak with great hands and even better hair"

2007 season
Medhurst's first season at Collingwood can probably be described as a roller-coaster ride. The livewire forward overcame illness and injury in the preseason, then patches of brilliance mixed in with stints in the reserves during the home-and-away season, before producing an excellent finals campaign where he made significant contributions in each of the three September outings. Started the year well with two goals in the low-scoring opening round victory over the Roos, then booted four match-winning goals against the Tigers in round three, but an ankle injury sustained late in the game kept him out until round nine. Returned to his best with consecutive three-goal outings against the Tigers and Demons in rounds 19 and 20, but it was his performance at Subiaco in the pulsating semi-final which confirmed his arrival as a Collingwood player, gathering 16 telling possessions, laying six tackles and booting two goals in a performance that was instrumental in the extra-time victory. Three goals in the preliminary final, for a season-total of 24 in 17 games, was the perfect platform for a huge 2008.

OK Game from PAULPAULPAULPAUL.
Not sure what else to say other than he kicked an easy goal in the 1st, and should have kicked another in the 3rd. Had good stats

From CFC site.

Produced arguably the best all-round performance of his 119-game career, and certainly his best in a black and white jumper, with 24 touches, 14 marks, three goals and three goal assists against Richmond in round three. That came after an excellent showing against Brisbane in round two, which followed a solid game against his old side on opening day. Earned praise from the coach after the win over the Tigers for improving his fitness which is allowing him to be a more complete player. Leads Collingwood for contested possessions (26).

We'll be depending so much on Medhurst this week, against the Bulldogs; but no doubt he'll deliver. He's been fantastic this year.

We need 5+ goals from Medders this week to have a chance. I think he's up to it.
