When Don Scott finished his "velcro hawk" speec he also said something like "In here we are oponents but when its all over and we go out there we are on the same side, If we win we have only won a chance to work like hell to save our club"

Geddit guys ?

Who knows what anothe 5 years will bring ? at least half the clubs have since been in the poo finacially MUCH more than hawthorn was.

Anyway as far as I can see there was no 'great opportunity' anyway - the AFL offered to spend dough renovating your house and mving it to a better neighbourhood - but you aslo signed over the deed and they reserved the right to make "changes' every 5 years or so - including evicting you if they see fit - all they promised was to not change the colour of the paintjob

It is something people don't understand, it wasn't a relocation, it was a sale to the AFL. It came down to who do we ultimately want making all the decisions, North people or the AFL.

Don't worry about outspoken people. Aylett, Keka and Barrassi are pro-expansion who do not think much of club heritage, didn't Barrassi say when Carlton was in trouble recently that their death would be good for footy?

Some people see football as ratings, profits and market share but the vast majority of supporters see something much more than that. If I was only concerned about numbers I would move to watch Soccer, eventually the sport will overrun all others. I won't like AFL any less even if it is a minor competition.

What is it about North Melbourne that makes their ex players/coaches/administration hate them so much?

Nothing, Barrassi while a great coach for us is a Melbourne person, he is not attached to the club. Keka is keka, he will say stupid shit just to be controversial. Aylett is the grandfather of the national competition, he would look like a dirty rotten hypocrite if he was vocal about us staying in Melbourne when he took a bloody knife to South Melbourne when he was running the VFL.

There are a lot of North people that have broader interests, when Port has been in the AFL for longer than a nanosecond you will also find the Port people become involved with other aspects of football operation and with other clubs. Perhaps one day a Port player or official will be advocating a Port and Crows merger in the years to come to save your own club.

Would the views of a handful be more important than the views of the many?
