Sorry guys there isn't much Info on the bloke.
I'll update this when some better stuff comes out.
For now:

LukeCasey-Leigh

From ScribbleWiki: blackwhitestripes

Height:1.95 Metres
Weight:84 Kilograms
Birthdate:March 9, 1989
2007 Club:Sandringham Dragons, Melbourne Grammar
From:Beaumaris
Honour(s):Victorian 'Rising Stars' squad vs Allies (grand final week Friday game)

Played well in the Allies game and state testing was good so he might be in the mix. He played on Matthew Kreuzer when we played the Knights and was named our best player so he might be a late draft/rookie chance. He's a tall back who is quick and can run under three seconds for 20 metres so that makes him attractive. He kicks the ball OK, his decision making got better as the year went on and he was probably our best improver.

I met Luke at Family Day, Popathon. He's a delightful young man. Took these pictures of him. You'll have plenty of positive things to write about this lad in the future.

Born in 1989 my arse.
This bloke looks like he could be my dad.

Hopefully he puts in some blinders to give me something impressive to write about.

The camera is deceptive, popathon - the bad lighting inside Lexus Centre. He really does look young and bursting with potential, and has lovely manners.:)

Hasn't been too impressive but looks like he's keen to constantly improve.

Luke Casey-Leigh works hard on the training track.

It is said that dedication and a solid work ethic are more important in achieving sporting success than natural talent alone.

In football, to harness the two is to become a genuine top liner at the elite level, though many have fallen by the wayside due to their inability to foster their commitment to themselves and the team, both on and off the field.

Less than six months after he was drafted from the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup, Magpie rookie Luke Casey-Leigh appears to have already developed the burning desire to never rest on his laurels, the youngster speaking of his admiration to learn from the best, and then apply their skills to his own footballing toolbox.

"My mentor is Tarkyn Lockyer, and he’s been great for me, but all the boys have been really good. We’re lucky to have a really strong leadership group down at the club” the recently turned 19-year-old said after his side’s loss to Williamstown in the VFL on Saturday

"You just try and pick out the best players and try to hang off them, but as far as mentors go, they have all been really great, and really push you hard”.

Despite possessing a slender frame, Casey-Leigh, the son of former Richmond president Clinton Casey, has begun the task of settling into Gavin Brown’s VFL defence well, as the coach himself highlighted post match.

“Last week I had an absolute shocker, where I wasn’t competitive enough, and that was my aim this week, and (although) I probably didn’t get as much of the ball, I did try and beat my man, and pressure him in the air, and down at ground level when tackling, so in that respect I was pleased, and felt I was better. But, there are a lot of areas in which my game can improve

Although his side went down to the Seagulls to the tune of 68 points, Casey-Leigh believes that there are many positives to have arisen from the afternoon, citing the performances of fellow defenders Shannon Cox and Marty Clarke as two of the shining lights on a day in which 39 goals were scored, making it a difficult day for backmen.

“Shannon Cox was awesome with his run out of the backline, Ryan Cook early used the ball well, Marty Clarke in the backline was great as well. Chris Dawes presented up forward fantastically, and a lot of other boys put in a hard effort, but it was only for perhaps three quarters, and we weren’t able to finish it off”.

Coming from a swimming background, Casey-Leigh’s fitness levels aided him in attacking his first senior pre-season, although the work put in over the summer made previous off-seasons a distant memory.

“That was the hardest pre-season I’ve done, and I really tested myself. I went alright last year, and yet even after a big pre-season; I’m still struggling to keep going, though I wasn’t happy with that last quarter where I struggled to run it out. It (the pace of the game, under 18s compared to VFL) is a massive difference.

Having now tasted two full matches at the second highest level the nation’s indigenous game has to offer, Casey-Leigh is now well placed to continue his improvement this Saturday, his side taking on the Northern Bullants who are coming off a victory over Coburg.
