Coming off a 2nd place finish in the 2006 Copeland trophy and elevated to the leadership group as 1 of the teams Vice-Captains, Johnno appeared to struggle throughout the season with an ankle injury. After a sickening clash with Daniel Bell from Melbourne, Johnno was suspended for 6 matches. Fairly steep, but a guilty plea in the previous weeks meant he could no longer get the discount for a clean record, costing him 6 weeks rather then 4. He would have been very handy against Geelong in the preliminary final in the suspension was in fact only 4 weeks. He has now served 5 of the 6 and will miss round 1.
He became a bit of a forgotten player throughout our finals campaign, where he no doubt would have added great run and carry from the HBF or midfield.
No doubt he would be burning the track up this pre-season, as he would have been dirty on himself for letting his mates down.
I'm looking for him to come out all guns blazing in round 2 with him entering the midfield, HB, HF rotation along the lines of Swanny, Tarkyn and Pendles.
