On sports tonight (tonight), they showed a clip of the bombers doing some drills, and Slattery did a bit of an unorthodox tackle on Lucas and Lucas didn't like it at all.... There was a bit of shoving and Lucas got a couple of hits in and Slattery started to react but teammates broke it up.
I'll try to get a clip of it in, but looks like there seems to be a bit of a rivalry started there between them 2.

Nah it seemed pretty serious, i'm sure we'll hear something soon from the Essendon Website or something from Coach Knighter.
I dunno you have to see it yourself.
Just watch the news, it will eventually pop up again.

Well I saw the rift between Lucas and Monfries and they were up laughing after. And that was apparently worse.

Calm down a tad mate, even if it was serious (I didn't see it) at least it proves they are treating training like they would a game.

Maybe lucas wanted to get him fired up? Extra fuel for training/playing

Nothing in it at all. I was there watching it and it was nothing much to write home about. What they edited out was the fact that they where laughing about it straight after it happened.
There has been a bit more physical contact in some of the drills and with boys being boys they go on with it a bit. No big deal.

It's great to see that there is some passion and intensity in the training sessions.
Knights would have loved to see the boys getting fired up!
And good on Slatts taking it up to the old timer....:thumbsu:

I'm just worried that in a game Lucas won't pass Slattery the ball anymore.....
Or wait a second, he doesn't pass it to anyone at all....

some of u guys just talk absolote shit. as if a player of lucas's tallent and the reputation that he has around the club is gunna trun around and throw a punch at one of the up and comming guns on purpose. they were doing a high intensity drill n yea. as if there not gunna laugh about it afterwoods i mean at essendon were a team of mates how else do u win a game of football u cnt relly on 1 player to do it all. clearly its just all fun n games n im sure that lucas will give him the ball. whats this shit about lucas not passing ur a dik mate. i dnt see u playing football i doubt that u play football at the moment were some of us do so we know what its lyk. if anyonbe could kick the ball as accurate and as cleanly as he does then y wouldnt u take ahots from 60 out. lucas is a gun get of his back n i dont blame him for passing of when he is in range. all players in range will go back n have a shot at goal. get of his back n dont post any comments untill u know what ur talking about

There was probably a touch of sarcasm in the comment about Lucas not passing him the ball anymore.
I think you've gone a bit too far with this post mate. Maybe lay off the sherbies first thing in the morning.:thumbsd:
As for the 'dont post any comments untill you know what ur talking about' - how about you don't post any more comments until you learn how to write.

I saw it -nice to see Essendon on tv over the summer.
It wa nothing - even without knowing the were laughing afterwards.
Just looked like a bit of agro and suprise suprise Slatts started it - love it - he is an angry young man - just what we need (no sarcasm either).
Scotty would be more embarrassed at the punches or lack thereof thrown.
Good to see niggle and competition prior to X-Mas.

yea but we all know that lucas gets critisised about not passing the ball by a lot of people so i thought that it was an unfair thing to say considering what happned in round 22.

You're spot on. He gets a rough trot in the media. He was fantastic for the most part of last season and he's always been one of my favs at Essendon. He's a natural goalkicker and a beautiful, long kick of the ball. The way I see it, if he handballs too often then he's wasting his natural talents.
I'm tipping another huge year from Lucas, who is, and always has been, under-rated.
I wonder why he's never been made captain of Essendon. I'm reasonably new to BigFooty, so maybe this has been talked about before, but does he lack leadership at training? Or on gameday? I would have thought he'd have been in the mix for captain the year Hille got it. But either way, he's a very good player who hopefully kicks another swag of goals next year.

Lucas is definately one of the leaders at the club and he would have been the more obvious/prefered choice in favour of Hille but i think Sheedy and the club saw it as an opportunity to improve Hilles leadership, confidence etc. It was only ever going to be for one season and it was a good opportunity to try and develop a younger player.
I do agree that Lucas is underated. He has always been a gun for us but unfortunately Lloydy took most of the spotlight earlier on in there careers. It peeves me off when Essendon supporters say he was a dud or average who only came good in the last few years. He was always a good young player and developed into an absolute champion.

If I could kick the ball like Scott Lucas I would be having a crack most times. Now after watching Scotty in pretty much every game he`s ever played for the club , live, I get the feeling that the coaching staff just may have passed this on to the boy..." Scotty your left foot is a ****ing weapon , use it"
And to say he doesn`t pass it to anyone is completely wrong.

And then I think of the one he kicked from 50 almost in the Pacific at Subi, and then the one he kicked after that, and the next one and the one after that......
Well you get the point.
Scotty is selfish, you take the good with the bad.
The good is much, much better than the bad.

I tend to agree that he most always does finish the job himself but the flip side is some poor team mate ran 70m flat out to watch scotty attempt another torp from the pacific... it's low % stuff that must piss off his team mates!! in his defence round 1 against crows he gave 1 to davey for goal didnt he!!
to further my point the fev goal from just outside the square that rolled in>>> showed what a lazy toothless pig that bloke is

Agreed, its what makes him as good as he is. I wish Lloyd would get a bit more selfish, he is there to kick goals, not to try and emulate the great-one (Hirdy).

Good to see the boys getting stuck into it at training. Henry is a ripper and wont take a backward step, he'd be the sort of bloke you would love backing you up in a fight.

Can't wait for the acion to start.
Lucas can shoot for goalanytime he wants, KB was goal hungry and he got plenty.
Love Henty's desperation.
