Wasn't it refreshing to see Tex Perkins head up You am I and perform the Australian classic "Dirty Deeds" on Rove last night.

Have to admit I was half asleep but when the song started I knew straight away what song it was!! With no disrespect to the great man Bon (rock in peace), I thought it was great to see someone (Tex and co) play this classic instead of hearing computer enhanced **** on our screens every minute of the day.

PS- I wouldn't have minded being on that train either mmmmmm red bikini!!

Shame about that song. Love the original, Love Tex, Love You Am I, hate the collaboration. Adds NOTHING to the original. Just a promo piece for the new movie. Ah well.

What did you think then at the ARIA's a few years ago when Silverchair and Timmy Rogers played New Race?

I quite like it. It's great to hear Tex sounding like he used to in The Beasts of Bourbon. In fact, I quite like the DD soundtrack, can't wait for the movie.

Hmm. Didn't hear it. Great choice of song, and like I said, I love You Am I. Not so keen on that Daniel Johns character though. Was it a good one?

Pretty much Timmy giving Silverchair some underground Oz music cred.

Pete are you going to see You am I tour this month?

Nah, can't afford it. Too much else to go see! I'm off to see Magic Dirt & Girls against Boys at the Corner this sat, then next week (I think) I'm seeing Shihad (Pacifier) at the Essendon Grand (Yes, that's right!) then I'm off to see Parliament at the Metro. So much to see, so little money!

Oh, and I wanna save up just in case Billy Idol does a solo gig!!

I haven't seen much about Parliament playing but I presume you mean the legendary George Clinton fronted funk outfit. Any ideas on ticket prices and the like?

Yeah, Dr Funkenstein himself! With '24 musicians, dancers and maniacs in a 2 hour plus show'. It's at the Metro in Melbourne on the 24th of July. Tickets are about $83 plus booking fee. Steep. But I think worth it.

And you are referring to Dirty Deeds???

Fair enough, but what do you actually dislike about it?
(ps, I agree, just curious)

I like seeing dallas crane gigs by themselves, though they do tend to outshine the bigger bands they play with,
when they played with rocket science at the corner, they blew them away.

I saw the Dirty Deeds cover on Rove. Really ordinary if you ask me. In fact it was a fair effort to make a classic song turn into a cringe fest.

Seemed like a real ego trip (or in joke) for Tim & Tex.

My favorite Silverchair moment ever (though the New Race cover was pretty impressive) - Melb Showgrounds BDO 1994 - Silverchair play on the RRR stage to about 10000 punters squeezed into an area that would not comfortable hold 5000 punters. Half way through the set, Daniel Johns, with great wisdom, says in between songs "Why are you ****ers out here watching us when a REAL band is about to come on out there", referring of course to the Screaming Trees. So I took Danny Boys advice, and went and saw a REAL band ....
