Bizzare news in the NT that Ben Haynes who had been given this years coaching job at Silvan has decided to go play alongside Lance Whittnal and Dylan McLaren for Palmerston Magpies in the NTFL for the remainder of the season up there. Is expected to make his debut this weekend and play the final 7 games and maybe finals. Informed his teammates at the final training session prior to Xmas. Another dent in the reputation of the Silvan sideshow.

Not true Valley - will be playing at Silvan in 08 so I have been told.
Has gone to the NTFL for the remainder of the year but will be back.
Moorcroft is the coach and Haynes will be the assistant.
Dont think there is any dent of the Sideshow in a club that has set the standard for all other 1st Division clubs.

What part is not true? He was appointed coach after Simon Rourke resigned, check this If you dont believe me.

How impressed do you think the players will feel slugging out preseason while he's trying to chase a cheap premeirship. Their so called recruiting policy of not enticing Yarra Valley players to their list has gone out the window as well. At least 5 players from surrounding clubs are currently training there, for the love of the jumper Im sure. No standard being set from a club with no morals.

Well he is actually propbably doing more then others would be by playing with Palmerston. His not the only player out there, that plays in both leagues during the one year. They would be neglecting the club if they werent out chasing players that live in that area, they will be the future to the club when the recruits move on. They are setting a standard in the league by recruiting ex-afl players and lifting the standard of the comp. Im sure all the other clubs are jealous of Silvan for achieving this.
By the way, is Marc Bullen is still playing at SIlvan next year?

I think if your appointed coach your priority through pre-season would be to get the team fit and ready to defend a premiership, not on the other side of the country with a bunch of blokes he hardly knows. Last year their president stated on the YVMDFL forum that the club had a policy of not recruiting from clubs in the same league, that they were only after ex-AFL or State league players to top up their list and help their younger players progress. Why try and convince rival clubs that they are interested in the strength of the comp when they are only interested in their own sucess.
Marc Bullen is supposedly still there, Henneman is gone and they have missed out on recruiting Luke Vogels ex Sydney, who has moved to the area.
Bullen is still at the club and Haynes hasn't gone to NT
so does anyone actually know what's going on at Silvan?
a few facts would be handy
Having spoken to Bullen recently I can comfirm it as fact that both he and Haynes will be at Silvan this season!

This is from the NT newspaper prior to Xmas. Fact.
http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2007/12/19/2894_ntsport.html
At the last training session prior to Xmas Haynes told the club he was heading to NT to play the remainder of the year for Palmerston. He was hoping to return to Silvan prior to the beginning of the YVMDFL season. Fact.
Since then he has decided to stay. Im tipping somebody twisted his arm.
Nah, nobody twisted Haynes's arm...he just couldn't be bothered going!

Even if it did good luck to em. Everyone wishes we had a sponsor like that dont we? We can dream.
I would love to see how much over the last 4-5 years the owner has thrown into the club. Would be big $$$ by now. But as stated good luck to em.
