What a recruiting coup this is! With Hay looking likely as well as Phil Read their list is going to be exceptional. Stuff the Southport Sharks, let's get Subi in as the 17th AFL team ;)

Waters also stated they are actively pursuing Ben Cousins and expect to wrap up his signature before the season starts. Imagine how good they are going to be

From a WAFL perspective, a disappointing result I would have thought.

Maybe I'm just a dirty miserable Sharks fan who was hoping Chick would come home, but the last thing the WAFL needs is a stronger Subiaco or Claremont. The competition is in danger of becoming as farcical as the Queensland and Canberra leagues.

Isn't their a salary cap in the WAFL?

And if there is, how do subi not go over it?

Still what you are getting in replacement would be wort considerable more i would have thought.

Would Holmes be on that much anyway?

Chick will be on $800 a game.

Read would be on a little less than that I would say.

Who is Holmes anyways? :p

Who will beat the pricks this year with that lineup, plus if a post in this thread came true ie: cousins, no one would get near them.

Todd Holmes. Was dropped to the reserves for the latter half of the year and also the finals. He walked out on the club during Grand Final week as soon as he found out he wasn't going to be selected for the Subi League side.

I thought Pickett and Newick would play one more year.

Bad news about Newick. Pickett is 34 and he did hint when the ABC interviewed him straight after the GF that 2007 might be his last year.

Three big losses but Chick and Read more than make up for them.

Outside AFL job offers. its not the money from the salary cap, but the outside work they can obtain for playing for that club.

wellsy
9 Jan 2008, 21:46
As has been said i dont know how they are staying under the salary cap. I know they have trillions of dollars and have only a handful of fans so you would think this team would entice more Subiaco supporters to come out of the woodwork.

I always thought Chick would've gone home to East Freo and help out a struggling club with quality youngsters. Call me old fashioned but i like it when players return to their original clubs to help them out.

Wouldn't be suprised if you see Pickett play in the country... more than likely in the SWFL.

If Chick was playing for money/wanting more money, he may as well go and play in the country, would be able to command over double than what a WAFL club could give him.
