View Full Version : Who is the best of the "new age" Ch9 commentators?
Unfortunately, i think mark nicolas is better than the rest. Tubby would be second on my list.

The pommie for mine.
The rest are average.
Mark Nicholas by the length of the Nullabor.
Taylor, Healy and O'Donnell cannot get work outside of Australia, which says volumes about their "talent".

Nicholas by a long way. Then Slater who is pretty good. Tubs is ok. O'Donnell is ordinary and the less said about Healy the better. That bloke should be sacked.

I dont like any of them. Does O'Donnell still commentate? I dont remember hearing him in a while, I figured they relegated him to the cricket show. Last time I heard him he wasnt trying very hard to hide his bias over an umpiring decision.

I voted for Slats, but that really is a terrible list.

Nicholas by a mile. Then Taylor.
Slater and Healy have both made sure of long careers though, through being the most willing to give cross-promotion plugs for whatever the next bit of tripe is that Nine has bought. And doing so almost as incessantly as Greig banging on about the memorabilia stuff. (OK, they all do the memorabilia, but Tony is by far the worst - and if Media Watch is to be believed is the one making the big money from it.)

Nicholas by a long way. O'Donnell the worst by a long way. Channel 9 should give up on their pathetic attempts to turn him into a "personality" for television!

Have to agree with SOD. At least he's only doing the cricket show these days, so there's no reason to put up with him.

i'm not a huge fan of any of them.
slater and nicholas are ok at best, although nicholas can give you the shits sometimes.
taylor isn't bad but he is pretty boring to listen to. what he says is usually pretty spot on though.
o'donnell and healy - just ordinary. at least SOD is only on the cricket show so everything he does is scripted.

And you lot would be able to do better would you?
It would be laughable.

Nicholas and Slater are great.
Rest are ok.
Healy has to go- makes everything sound complicated.

Cometti & Brereton should combine for the Nikolas head pozy. Those 2 are a exellant combo.
& some younger far more entertaining funny people needed.
- Brendan Julian
- Boof Lehman
- Collin Miller
- Ryan Campbell

I don't like Tubby's delivery, but he knows a heap about the game and is usually spot on.

How long do you reckon you could go without creaming yourself about Oasis?
About four and a half seconds during an Ashes series, I reckon.
Michael Slater for mine. Calls it how he see's it, and is a breath of fresh air in that old mans commentary box.

Nicholas but considering the mediocrity around him that's not saying a lot.
The rest are too pre-occupied with constantly refering to every Australian player by their nickname, as if to give the impression that they are "in the know".
Whether they are "in the know" or not I don't know, but regardless it's a quite grating way to commentate.
