We all know that the selectors did not pick Australias best T-20 side for the world cup, instead opting for the ode day side. So the question i ask is who would you pick as the best XI in this form of the game.

For me:

1. Adam Gilchrist
2. Ricky Ponting
3. Andrew Symonds
4. David Hussey
5. Mike Hussey
6. Cameron White
7. Luke Pomersbach
8. Brett Lee
9. Nahan Hauritz
10. Nathan Bracken
11. Shaun Tait

Why does no one have Bilzzard?

Why does no one have Bilzzard?

Because he's still very inconsistent. Could turn out to be an absolute gun and play for Australia in all forms but still has a while to go yet.

i rekon that all the old farts shouldnt play, let the blokes they are keeping out of the 50 over team have a run at international level thru the 20 20 team.

Agreed. Just like at domestic level when the young pups get a run.

He looked pretty good with the bat the other night at the Gabba.

what do you reckon about this list of 13?
1. Adam Gilchrist (opens the batting and keeps, it's not even an argument)
2. Matthew Hayden (IF his hammy holds up, he's not getting any younger and you can't have 80-90% fit players in the fast and furious twenty20)
3. Ricky Ponting (if he starts taing twenty20 seriously)
4. Michael Clarke (needs opportunites in the middle at twenty20 level, then start taking them)
5. Mike Hussey (along with Symonds, arguably the best finisher of an innings for Australia and can open if necessary)
6. David Hussey (still in the shadow of Mike, but has been carving up a reputation of his own, particularly in twenty20 and must surely be on the fringes of 50-over and test selection. I don't know if he can open like Mike can, but a better bowler and could perhaps fill an all-rounder role for Australia)
7. Andrew Symonds (only question here is whether he bats 1 or 2 places higher up the order and perhaps the selectors will play D.Hussey in the all-round no.7 role)
8. Brad Hogg (enthusiastic, energetic cricketer and a fine bowling all-rounder in all forms, particularly limited overs cricket)
9. Brett Lee (spearhead, dangerous bowler and hard-hitting tailend batsman)
10. Nathan Bracken (left-armer provides variety to the pace line-up and while only medium-fast, is the king of swing and always puts it in the right spots)
11. Shaun Tait (fastest bowler not only in Australia, but surely the world and allows Lee to bowl line and length)

honourable mentions go to: S.Clark, Hopes, Hilfenhaus, White, Pomersbach, S.Marsh, Haddin

And if you were going to play youngsters, here would be my line-up (let's say they'd have to have played less than 5 twenty20 ints. and be under 30 years old)
1. Phil Jaques (dangerous, aggressive hitter of the ball, but queries about his fielding)
2. Luke Ronchi (does he have a defence? But he is all attack, attack and attack and that's what twenty20's about)
3. Brad Haddin (can bat anywhere in the order and can play as a specialist batsman, even though I'd rate him a better keeper than Ronchi. Would have played over 50 ints in tests and ODIs forms easily if it wasn't for Gilchrist)
4. George Bailey (one of the cleanest hitters of the ball in Australia and cna be a match winner)
5. Luke Pomersbach (exciting prospect, needs to work on hittng singles)
6. Shaun Marsh (left-hander and a clean striker of the ball. Son of Geoff)
7. James Hopes (the all-rounder, his batting has improved out of sight and is a consistent bowler)
8. Ashley Noffke (has transformed himself this year into a genuine all-rounder)
9. Brett Geeves (always takes wickets in the shorter form of the game and dangerous lower-order batsman)
10. Ben Hilfenhaus (rarely goes for a big total and, after a slow start this year, is finding form. A genuine swing king)
11. Ben Edmondson (can bowl all-right, but is 1 of the worst batsmen in Australia and is definitely a no.11. Not sure about his fielding either)
