Could it be that Channel 9 are now paid by 3 to go to the news when the match could be just about to finish to sell 3's mobile cricket package?

Doubtful. 9 have always been obsessed with showing the news on time. This is the first season I can remember where the cricket has taken priority over ACA too.

Sponsors pay very good money for news advertising and would expect them to go ahead regardless...and the nightly news is 9s highest rating show.

There are millions of people who watch the news that don't follow cricket.

They showed ACA during the Chappell - Hadlee series, maybe that isn't considered to be important.

Years ago was the time that cricket should have moved to a Fox Cricket channel.

I was most impressed with the way Nine managed to squeeze in about six ads after Stuart Clark got out, but still managed to get back in time to show us a replay of Tait being dropped first ball.

It was gay here in Adelaide. The 2nd session of the Perth Test finished at 5.40pm. We watch through all of the tea break, and as the players are about to return, we cut to the news. :thumbsd: Just go to the news with the Eastern States at 5.30pm. Id rather miss 10 mins of cricket, than half an hour.

I am pretty sure it falls under an agreement between the guys who telecast the cricket and the programmers if they want to show the news or not.
