View Full Version : Musicians you would like to meet.
What musicians would you like to meet?
I'm not necessarily talking about the well renowned stars and frontmen, but rather, band members or musicians who you have heard of who have a reputation of being interesting, friendly, and funny, rather than merely just being 'interesting' because they are a star.
I'd start my list off with:
James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Mike Mills (R.E.M.), David Williams (Augie March) and Colin Greenwood (Radiohead).
Top of my list would be Carol Kaye, a session musician from the renowned 'Wrecking Crew'. These musicians played on many of Spector's girl group hits, most of the groups in California in the early to mid 60s (including Jan & Dean and The Beach Boys). I have attended a few chats with Carol and the extent of her knowledge of bands and stuff is amazing, and on top of that she's just totally approachable. Would love to meet her sometime. :)
Same with Billy Hinsche, former child star in the group 'Dino, Desi and Billy' and brother in law of Beach Boy Carl Wilson. Has a wealth of interesting stories too, and comes across as one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet.
I'd also add Brian Wilson to the list, even though he is very famous. I'd just like to sit down with him and see for myself what the deal is with him. Someone I have an enormous amount of respect for.
Great topic Stocka!!!! :)

Definitely Jason Wade from Lifehouse. Nooo, not coz he's hot. I would love to meet him coz he's supposed to be really interesting to talk to about life and such. I'd tell him how much his lyrics mean to me and how they've really helped me through a lot of stuff. :)
Probably Tism because I'd like to know who they really are.
Eminem, just to see for myself what he is really like, instead of reading bulldust about him all the time.
I'd like to meet Scott Stapp (Creed), just to ask him to politely stop recording.

Dave Grohl would have to be one of the most interesting people on earth. If I could interview one man, it'd be him.
Nirvana member, Foo Fighters member, someone who hates Courtney Love and believes she organised Cobain's death, and a very funny and nice man.

Perry Farrell ( Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros ) same as above
but the two people most of all unfortunately arent musicians but are artists of another description and they are
Bill Hicks and Johnny Depp just to shake their hands and say " thanks for being so far above and ahead of everyone else in your field ...and its your shout ...)

And I'd continue to shake Johnny Depp's hand and muttering something like, "these hands touched Kate Moss AND Vanessa Paradis" ;)

I would like to meet Michael Jackson and ask him "why" ???
Plastic surgery and transforming his skin pigment to white has him now looking like a sideshow freak.
Uli Jon Roth - I'd play him a CD of his "Beethoven's 9th" from the Birmingham Live 1983 set, and ask "HOW THE F**K DID YOU DO THAT?"
Tom Angelripper (Sodom) - Someone to provide the beer drinking music while the amber/black fluid flows.
David Lee Roth - never has the word "entertainer" been so well personified in one person.
Ozzy Osbourne - so I can ask him why he has sacrificed his dignity and respect as an influential and successful recording artist for 33 years, to become famous as the old freak who swears a lot on TV.
Billy Joel - to rip off both his arms, and beat him to death with them.
Britney Spears - because I want to fondle her breasts.

My people:
David Bowie, he seems nice and is incredibly creative;
Bez from the Happy Mondays to have 'fun' with;
Iggy Pop cause he's such a f'n legend, and I'd like to see how tall he actually is;
Christina Martinez (Boss Hog, Jon Spencer's wife) cause I want to ... give it to her;
that's all I can think of right now....

Didn't you get to meet the singer from Where's The Pope? once in Melb? ;)
For years I've wanted to meet Harry Connick Jr. Anyone who can sit at a piano and just bang out fantastic jazz, improvised and classics just entrances me. He also seems to have a great personality and sense of humour and seems like such a lovely guy. Would love to hear all his stories of growing up in jazz clubs in New Orleans and playing with the legends as a youngsters.

Who???
The only Budgie I know is the legendary drummer behind the legendary lady of goth.
Budgie are/were a three piece boogie/blues based rock band from Wales, who were at their peak in the early 70s.
Probably a little more recognised from their influence on Metallica, who have covered a few of their songs for B-sides and special releases.
A very underrated rock band, nothing fancy but they do very well with just the bare essentials of three blokes playing their instruments. A poor man's Black Sabbath if you like.
BB King
Enimem
Nick Cave
Kylie
Also to tell stop recording
Will Young
Jimmy Barnes
Creed
Any boy/girl band
