These types of records really mean very little in the overall scheme of things. Most runs, wickets, catches, dismissals by a wicketkeeper, etc are all records held by current or recently retired players and come about courtesy of the amount of cricket they play these days.

Imagine how many he would have if he could catch!!

If he passes him this test it means nothing. Boucher is 5 years younger..

And he can catch!

Go easy on Gilly, i bet he'll blast a double ton, scorch the outfield and then having Telstra broadband on red alert as you lot flock to these boards to hail the great man.

Isn't that what people were saying after the last 3-5 tests?

Not only is it one of the most useless stats but the person he passed is a current keeper who is 5 years younger...what is the fuss about?

That other guy has also played about 20 more matches. How many dismissals did Boucher have 15 matches ago?

Retirement beckons. Love to see the stats on how many easy chances he has grassed. He only got the record because of the class of Warne and Mcgrath.
Otherwise very average.

Wait a minute - I thought Gilly couldn't keep to Warne? Only the fat-ass twins Ian Healy and Darren Berry could do that?
Well done Gilly. Even with your dropped catches, your still twice as good as anyone Australia could get in the side thinking they'd do a better job.
If he passes him this test it means nothing. Boucher is 5 years younger..
I was watching the second test vs the West Indies, and the commentators were talking about De Villiers wicket keeping. Wonder if they are thinking that Boucher is on borrowed time?

Records are made to be broken, but Gilly can always say at one time in life he had more dismissals than any other wicky in the history of the game.
I agree that these types of stats are negligible because the contemporary cricketer plays a lot more cricket, but it's still something special to which very few people can lay claim.

Played a lot more tests than Gilchrist too. Having Pigeion and SK Warne would have helped Gilchrist immensely. :thumbsu:
