Well I was looking at the clanger stats in relation to another thread and thought I’d out the Port list here just to make a couple of points.

The first is that Kingsley’s work goes largely unnoticed. I don’t know how many times I’ve thought he wasn’t doing much only to see him near the top of the stats when I got the paper. And you notice the errors more I reckon.

The other thng is that good players take risks and play to their limit. So this is not necessarily an indication of quality work for the most part.

From best to worst, bearing in mind that those picked on by the umpires may be near the bottom…

Kingsley
Schofield
Wanganeen
Poulton
Dew
Hardwick
Tredrea
Nick Stevens
Wakelin
Montgomery
Guerra
Carr
Cockatoo Collins
Francou
Peter Burgoyne
Chad Cornes
Primus
Pavlich

Yes, the prospective 2 million dollar man would be comfortably last in this department. So to continue his development and sort him out, I reckon this is the club.

Kingsleys Disposal has been one of his weaknesses, He would be the complete package otherwise, a bit like Tregenza in his AFL days

Not too sure I totally agree on that one.
The times that Kingsley becomes a "liability" is when he is out of position, usually due to opposition tactics.
When running through the middle he has been playing like a champ.

The times when Kingsley is a liability is when he doesnt know what to do with the ball.

For most of last season, and basically all of the first 8 weeks this year, when he got the ball he didnt know what to do with it. "Meadys over there all handball to him....oh wait...Montys up field should i kick it...oh theres Gav maybe i should handball to him....wait...what was i gonna do first...kick it to Meady thats right" kicks over his head and a turnover happens.

THe last 4-5 games Kinger has seemed to have a world full of confidence because instead of stuffing around once he got the ball...he now seems certain of what to do. You can tell early in the game if Kinger is on or not....if you see his about to handball then about to kick then about to handball then about to kick again and he doesnt do any of them then you know hes not gonna have a good game.

As much as i criticise him....his last 4-5 games have been very very good and a 300% improvement on his early season form.

He is not a static type player I suppose. :)
When he is running he has been good though.
In the early part of the year he didn't run in the midfield as much as he has lately.
His worst game was when Malthouse had him at fullback.
Reminded me of the "kick it to Kickett's man at all cost" strategy.

Can't understand the rankings system. Surely Dew hasn't had that many clangers this year? He hasn't had that many kicks! And most of 'em have been goals! I'm a lil confused.

Free kicks against are usually counted as clangers but I suppose this definition varies with who is collecting them.

i think the list goes from best to worst, so being at the top means you have less clangers
