What is this? it's barely been a week and already bushie has a red card, some of these mods (Freo ones not included of course)are really starting to get a bit too mig for their shoes (not that they have big feet....if you know what I mean.(again Freo Mods ommited)) but this is a discrace, in the owrds of some guy form the simpsons 'I'm taking this to the prime minister'
And stronzo, whats that thing about murdoch uni you've got on your last post? i've spent nearly half my holidays up at the student village (even though i don't go to that uni....:D) you a student there? work?....play?

Have you a foreign student on the go DE? I can't think of any other logical reason you'd be at the student village, unless you're a cleaner in which case I might have some work for you ;)

Nah you'd be right with the first one, a swede. Finally my second language of swedish comes in handy.
On a slight sidenote however, a freind of the swede form Zimbabwe was on the same flight as the Dockers when they are returning form SOuth Africe and actually sat next to one of them, when I tried assertaing as to who it was all i got was ' I dounno, I just took a few sleeping pills and washed it down with a bit of vodka and slept on his shoulder'
With that I can only assume it wasn't Taz, or one of the other pretty boys whom she udually loves to watch 'run round in those cute little shorts'
what are you studying btw?
Stronzo
13 Feb 2008, 21:46
I'm studying Community Development, which is in the social services field.
I only know one phrase in swedish, excuse the spelling: "Jag ville ha en earl"
Also pleased to say I have my swedish flag :thumbsu:

you going to the start of semester bash at the tav type things? My uni doesn't have one (well it does but it sucks majorly as they charge entry so usually no one goes) cos all the internatuionals that i've been hanging out iwht are planning to get right royally hammered and stumble down for a feed and a dance....maybe you'll raise another flag?

No, my mast is firmly planted in Italy at the moment :D
The uni tav is a big improvement on the last. My biggest issue with it is the non student priced booze and a somewhat stagnant atmosphere.. I guess the atmosphere will come once it has been "borken in" a bit..
What poor uni could not have a tavern DE?

Well we don't have an official one but since we are located in the middle of Fremantle it really isn't an issue as we have plenty of pubs/clubs/food/adultshop.coms/a train station. And best of all we have this really cool Footy club a few meters dowen the road, you might have heard of them. But yeah it is a poor uni (Notre Dame) but seeing as they have a really good post grad program that I want to get into it seems that I will have to endure the horrible organisation a while longer, though out of doing this or Psychology at curtin I know that I have made the right choice.....for now

I think the orient is your unofficial tavern, not a bad pub :thumbsu:
The real issue I have with Notre Dame, besides being an american uni, is the way they've been allowed to buy out a lot of the historic buildings in the west end, pretty much sapping a lot of the commercial and residential activity in the area. It is good that fremantle has a university, as the student population adds to the area (something Perth lacks), just a shame it is at the behest of probably the prettiest part of fremantle. Anyway so long as it doesn't cause any ubs to close down I'll be happy.
Notre Dame seems a better uni than curtin. Curtin seems overly focused on the foreign student dollar for my comfort.

I hear what your saying about the bulidngs but the university only restores them on the inside and aren't allowed to knock down or altrer the exterior thus keeping the same feel around the aream, something that connot be said for commercial or residential construction that would otherwise occur. So I haver no problem with it (and this is form an unbiased view of course)

What's this? They didn't tear down the Murdoch Tav did they?
Some of my fondest memories (and black spots) happened in that pub.

No it is still there, though no longer functioning as a tavern.
They have built a brand new one at the front of bush court, I guess so that more people would frequent it.
Pretty nice pub, big outdoor area, pool tables and inspirational quotes above the men's urinal :thumbsu:

Actually come to think of it, I guess that wouldn't have been too much of a difference really.

Notre Dame is a great uni :) Love it there. I like how it's kinda hidden away in the town. As for it sapping away the commercial and residential activity...well, I don't really get what that means but they have a lot of shops and stuff still in the area near the uni if that's what you mean?

17 Feb 2008, 00:17
If you go down that part of fremantle it isn't as busy and busling as other parts.
Apparently before the uni bought out a lot of the buildings there used to be a lot more activity in that area, now it is a little stagnant in comparison.
The uni probably brings more positives than negatives though, keeping DE off the streets would have to be one of them :p

I can see what you mean. But I guess most people stay on the Cappo Strip anyway.
Baha, and as for keeping DE off the street, that's prolly a good thing :p just kidding!!
Nah, it is a great uni though. Only did a Bridging Course last year in the first semester, and starting my Nursing degree in just over a week's time. I'm reallllly excited actually. What a nerd:D
