I know its still over a week away, but just wanted to know if you're heading to the game on Feb 16th and what are your expectations-result (will the dees challenge us? etc.), possible line-ups, crowd attendance, future pre-season matches (NAB CUP results or Exhibition matches).
The More The Merrier
Cheers

I don't reckon we'll be going in super-hard, so I'd be surprised to see a smashing. In fact, I wouldn't even be surprised to see the Dees win, but I don't think that will happen.

Will be weird to have a sell-out or near sell-out for a NAB Cup game.

Just got an email from the club today, a couple of the stands are reserved seating and one is already sold out.

This one will be a huge crowd for sure. It also has the family day afterwards at 5.30pm.

And for the record I went for Geelong under 3 goals. :thumbsu:

I think we'll take it easy on Melbourne and win by between 5-7 goals. :D

I think we'll see a few new faces playing too. Wouldn't be surprised to see Harry Taylor, Davenport, Gamble, Djerrkura, West and Lonergan getting a run with a few of our premiership side getting a rest. Even then we'll still be able to chalk up a comfortable win and see a Blake vs King encounter in the second week of the NAB Cup. :thumbsu:

I am hoping that the Cats will be trying out some of the younger blokes. (Taylor, Simpson ( the smaller one) West, Diji etc.

I think that it will be a close match. I hope Geelong win but would not be surprised if the Dees got up in a close one.

I believe both wings are sold out [Brownlow & Hickey stands].I doubt it'll be a complete sell out.

The club are expecting 20,000 to attend, although the weather forecast says it will be fine and warm so that may be bring out another couple of thousand.

i hope cats by 6 goals

Id love to see the up and coming players given a good chance and impress, and id love to hear of a sell out. Love the fact the club is making good profits, and i hope a good showing in this can sell some more memberships.

Strength on and off the field is the way to go.

I luv ya catters!!

I'd think that standing room wont sell out, but probably the seating will be sold out by mid-week, if it hasn't already.

Pretty insane for a NAB Cup match!

This from GFC email:

Reserved seating can be purchased in the Reg Hickey Stand (Brownlow Stand sold out). General admission patrons will have access to seating in the Doug Wade Stand or Gary Ablett Terrace and standing room.

I doubt it will be a sell out, but the warm weather will def bring more people out. (Which is just what happened last year)

12 Feb 2008, 10:19
Reading an article last week they were struggling to sell tickets (about 5000 sold) and were expecting most people to just rock up and buy tickets on the day, which is what they don't want, because they'll end up with issues like last year and if it does happen again the AFL won't play NAB cup games there again.

Hearing that the stands are selling out though, I'm guessing quite a few people are buying tickets this week.

Honestly, couldn't give 2 stuffs if Geelong lose this week. I don't think it will be a blow out in any case, since neither team will be going very hard at all. Margin will be around 20 points either way

Actually ive changed my mind about this one

New Melbourne coach, tryin to implement a new game plan, and the cats are full of confidence, .

Melbourne to get seriously touched up. Do your self a favour dees fans, dont drive your 4wds to geelong, leave tickets for geelong fans and go hiking or skiing or what ever cliche your supposed to do on weekends now anyways.

The score line doesnt suprise me. Geelong have fielded their A grade side apart from Scarlett, Egan, Chappy and Selwood. (did i miss anyone?)

Given those players are not in we have therefore not "fielded their A grade side".

It like people when they advertise stuff "Ohh yeah this is MINT condition besides the srcatches and cracks". :D

Blake and Tenance still can't kick lol! :thumbsd:

It basically is your A grade side lol. Dw i dont blaim Geelong. If your teams that good, Why wouldnt you try and win the NAB Cup and the Flag. You get the $1 Million bonus and if theirs any team that can do both, Its Geelong

That's a lot more top quality players than the saints had out last night and everyone was talking about how they were playing with a B grade squad a gainst a full strength Tigers.

I think thats because people dont really rate the Saints as having much depth. On the other hand all the Geelong players are pretty much guns and quality players wheres the Saints arnt.:thumbsu:

Blake does look bigger too.

Need to finish this match as sharp as they started it Geelong. Too much of the 2nd and 3rd quarters has been absolute rubbish. More bad hand balls than I can count.

Suspect it's a bit of fitness, some application too - hard to be motivated I suspect when you are the premiers and 60 points up in the preseason comp.

Byrnes has another goal. Now we have to ask ourselves: can he win the Coleman?:D:D
