I have just read this article and I know it sounds harsh, but is ben Cousins just sprouting the same crap he has for 2 years? I would love to believe that he has beaten his habit, but he does seem to be a bit of a media performer when it comes to this type of stuff. Any thoughts?

Cousins has said very little previously, so what has been "spouting"?
And what do you want him to say?
Do you him to fall to his knees and beg for forgiveness?
I hope Cousins keeps his chin up and does things his way. I hope he denies the vultures their pound of flesh.

You took this the wrong way Gunner. He has previously made public statements about being sorry, etc., but I am not sure he mean't them.
I agree with you, I hope he comes out the other side and cn beat his problem, but has anything really changed?

What are you talking about?
Cousins has said basically nothing in relation to his drug issues and he certainly has not said that he has beaten his habit, EVER. Why would he be entering into another program if he had beaten his habit?
I think you must have read a different story to the rest of the population.

You are the one who posted a link to the news story yet you obviously didn't even read it yourself.
"FALLEN AFL superstar Ben Cousins has spoken about his drug addiction for the first time since he went into hiding last year."

Comments weren't prepared and he sounded genuine. Good enough for me to believe him. I hope he beats his problems.

You took this the wrong way Gunner. He has previously made public statements about being sorry, etc., but I am not sure he mean't them. He's never spoken as candidly about drug use.
If he's already said he was sorry, what else do you want him to say? Should he keep apologising everytime he speaks to the media?
but has anything really changed? What development are you waiting for?
You want him to bare his soul, but I hope he never does.

Are you implying that the WCE have brought about his changing process. Because you have got head in the sand. It is "common rumours" about the WCE knowing about his problems since Ken Judge made comment about it and NOTHING was done until the AFL got hot on the WCE.
I am sure you are just trying to wind people up, seriously, get a clue.

I think its a great sign he's surrounding himself with people like Mundine, who is a known anti-drug campaigner.
Doesnt sound like he's beaten it yet, but I hope he does and can return to the Footy field next season for a last hurrah. My fave non-Tiger.

I don't think we will ever find out how it all started.
I mean, it is a slow gradual process.
It is not like one day someone came up to him and said, "hey man, want to get addicted to ice with me?"

Rehab is ongoing. You can never 'beat' the habit, it is continuing to keep it under control. So really there isn't much more he can do than 'sprout' against the dangers of drugs.

It'd be nice if he really could see his way through it, but it's going to take a lot more than this to convince me. And there is no sport with a greater organised crime involvement than boxing, so hanging around there doesn't seem a great move.

Kick Boxing is... not boxing (a very, very big difference)
All part of the plan to become recognisable on the east coast.
Not much money releasing the inevitable cashgrab book if NSW and QLD dont even know who u are.
Cheap publicity stunt....hanging off another like a bad case of crabs.
Just another sporting drug cheat that couldnt giveashit about his teammates family or friends.
"The things that make me a great footballer"...what a knob.

Sorry, I didn't realise Mundine was a kick boxer.
No because Im pretty sure that story has been around since before Cousins was born so he cant be the boy who cried wolf.

MAN, GETTING SACKED BY THE EAGLES is like GETTING thrown out of heaven.
I cannot understand how something like that could not change a player.
Man did you not see the kind of football the Eagles played in 2006.
Those matches against Sydney and Adelaide. The highest sporting spectacles in the world for tenacity.

FWIW, I thought it took a lot of gumption to do what he did (in fronting the media).
He appears to be in a good place, and surrounding himself with someone who is clean living like Mundine can only aid his recovery.
The fact that he didn't try and make excuses and fronted his demons head on must be respected.
I for one hope he can completely rid himself of drugs, and even if he doesn't come back to the AFL, he can be content with the choices he makes for the rest of his life.:thumbsu:
