Have also heard from reliable source that RDFL are considering an allstar match on that allocated weekend.

Would be in the form of East vs West

East team would be made up of the following

Rockbank, Centrals, Diggers, Kangaroos & Riddle

West team would be made of the following

Lancefield, Romsey, Woodend, Macedon, Kilmore & Wallan

The league is concerned that players will not support the idea. Please post any feedback.

I think this would be a great concept to make our own league stronger and a great day to promote the strength and eveness of the competiton.

The coaches would be 2 people who are not coaching in the RDFL at this point and the targeted coaches are both past champions of the league.

Any player that will be selected in the team of the year must play in this game. Unless injured of coarse.

Also A new name for the BOG medal who would you name it after.

Let the league know what you think of the idea with this poll.

Cheers

From a player perspective, it would be great to play in a game like this one. You would get to play along side blokes that you would normally be trying to shut down, for example I'm sure Lee James would love to have someone like Shaun Sims delivering him the footy. It would be great to see what different combinations of players could do in a situation that would otherwise never occur.

I think the sides should be picked by the nominated coaches and assistant coaches prior to Round 7. Round 7 is two weeks before the Queen's B'day w/end. This gives the coaches a chance to see who is in form and who the up and comers are. The coaches will also have time to bring someone else in if a player gets injured.

The umpires should be the picked by the league much in the same way they pick the umpires for the GF. Those judged to have performed well in the first part of the season should be rewarded. This will then give the umps a platform to show how good they are when the game is flowing (ideally speaking) faster and cleaner than any other game. It would be intersting to see if those selected to umpire on the day were the same umpires selected for the 08 GF. It could be a benchmark for them to see who has been consistant and who has dropped away.

be interesting to see if all the clubs back the game and allow they're player (s) to play.
as a coach the last thing i would want to see was one of my gun players going down in this type of match/
having said that though it would be a great game to go watch some of the best players from different clubs playing together

think the teams will be evenly matched or does one side have the advantage>?

FIRSTLY i have 2 say that im very appreciative of the work of scott mccartney and co 2 get this thing under way.secondly i cant wait 2 see our leagues superstars going at it 2 help lift the profile of this once proud super league.but as embarrissing as this is i must ask how come the majority of players were selected from last year.YES that is understandable,BUT i would like the league heirachy 2 explain 2 all of us who the selection committee was????????
just b4 people turn on me i want 2 make it clear that i have wrote my best east vs west sides out and i didnt have myself in it.suprise,suprise.

but my point is:

2 weeks out of surgery with a 15 week injury i played in the anzac game against kilmore only in the hope it could inspire my team mates.and after walking off the ground with a hand bigger than a cantelope and most kilmores players, heavily including kilmores skipper telling me that i will win the anzac medal,i must ask why doesnt the league consider past legends?

as soon as u think im pressing my own cause please consider this:
where is mark power,mark mcinerney,dean helmers,dan sipthorpe,etc.etc.etc

i will write my teams out next week 4 everyones grilling

How do you know your not in?
No one really knows whats happening with it yet.
I've heard there are players getting added and chopped all the time, so these players you mentioned could be in.
Who actually knows when the finally squads will be announced???

No teams have been announced as yet and no players have been cut from the squads, but players have been added from what I have been told, there will be a training session for the squads and the actual selected side will come from there.

I have every confidence the selectors will pick players that are in form & consistantly playing good footy week in week out. As they should !
It is after all I believe a Showcase of our Best & Brightest.
Just look on the RDFL websight there are plenty to choose from there that are in the best players lists.
Thing about "Reputations" is, you are only ever as good as your last game.
That is, if your getting one !
