Anyone care to discuss some of the signings at your VFL club for season 2008?
At Werribee we have signed four players who were on AFL rookie lists last year in Michael West (Western Bulldogs), Peter Hardy (Port Adelaide), Lachlan McKinnon (Essendon) and Ben Sharp (West Coast Eagles).
Matt Quigley from Rupertswood (VAFA) has also been signed.

At the Bullants the signings I know about are David Teague and Matthew Lappin from Carlton as well as Ash Hockey from the TAC Cup (forgot who though). The first two would be expected to place inside the top 3 in the best and fairest, whilst Hockey will be hoping to cement a place in the seniors. However Ross Young has gone to the WAFL, Digby Morell followed Barry Mitchell to Box Hill, Anthony Raso left for Frankston, Josh houlihan got a better offer from a Diamond valley team as well as Dylan Mclaren and Justin Crowe going somewhere. It looks like being a long season for the Bullants.

Pretty sure that Crow has signed on with Collingwood.
These are the only confirmed signings for Collingwood
- Nigel Carmody
- Tim Walsh (Bulldogs)
- Justin Crowe
Apparently these guys are also 'definates'
Shane McDonald - Bonbeach
Ryan Colbert Old - Xavs
Brad Jones - Eastern Ranges
Ben Considine - Calder Cannons
and these guys are likely to be signed - training with us
James Saville - Calder Cannons
Daniel Frost - Scorpions
George Dick - Old Scotch
Jeremy Mugavin - Geelong Falcons
Saad Saad was rumoured to signed but apparently the deal didn't go through at all and has signed for another suburban side. Also rumoured that Daniel Nicholls ex Collingwood rookie will join the team. Other players that have trained with the team include Kris Pendlebury.

In VFL terms, that's definitely good money.

There's a page dedicated to where the AFL delistees will be playing in the current edition of Inside Football and a number of them will be plying their trade in the VFL this year.
There have already been a few mentioned in this thread and also on other forums, so I thought I would only post up some that I haven't seen posted elsewhere.
Stephen Owen (Geelong)- North Ballarat
Sam Gibson (Hawthorn rookie)- Box Hill
Matt Little (Hawthorn)- Williamstown
Daniel Hughes (Melbourne rookie)- Sandringham
Heath Neville (Melbourne)- Tasmania
Daniel McConnell (Kangaroos)- North Ballarat
Nathan Batsanis (Port Adelaide rookie)- Box Hill
Alex Lee (Port Adelaide rookie)- Frankston

I don't think so.
There are still some practice matches to be played before the lists needs to be submitted to VFL administration.
Former Brisbane Lions rookie, Jake Furfaro, who played at Werribee from 2005-7 has had his clearance request to AFLQ Mt Gravatt rejected.
In VFL terms, that's definitely good money.
i'd imagine they would get alot more playing country footy to.

Werribee's reserves will be coached by former Williamstown and Werribee Troy Mitchell, who returns to the club after a stint coaching Lara in the Geelong FL.
Matt Power also returns to the club in an assistant coaching role.
The Tigers have lost former Western Jet Ryan Closter, who has decided to ply his trade in the GFL.

Geez... that's a fair deal.
Read in Inside Footy that he was at Poowong, but wasn't sure what sort of a deal he was on.

port first and seconds won, corey mcgrath was best on ground.
gary ayres is the new coach replacing ghazi who was the worst coach ever for the burra just slightly ahead of david dunbar and ian collins.
ghazi is now coach of willy seconds which still might be too high for him.

There was a number of players, including myself who have been Coached by Connolly (Gazza) over the last 5 or 6 years.
He is a great Coach/Communicator and will be a great asset to the Port Melbourne footy club.

Daniel Bramich is 18yo struggled to do all the pre-season owing to his cricket commitments with Premier club Northcote.
He's a winger-flanker and a natural footballer.
"He's only a boy. Once we put some muscle on him he'll be a neat player" Jade Rawlings said.

There was an article in the Shepp News about Saad Saad.
The report stated that Saad was always going to play at seymour, but wanted to get fit by participating in collingwoods pre-season.
He has played there for the last three seasons.

SAAD DELIGHTS LIONS (Shepparton News 18-3-08)
Seymour's bid for a historic fourth consecutive premiership has received a massive boost, with star forward Saad Saad committing to the club for the upcoming season.
The Goulbourn Valley Football League's leading goal-kicker from last season had been training with Collingwood's VFL side during the pre-season, prompting speculation he was leaving the Lion's den, but Saad said he was always going to stay at Seymour.
"I was training with them to just keep as fit as possible, I never really thought I was going to play with them" Saad said.
"It was good, something different, but i can't wait for the season to start.".....
It then goes on to talk about his goal-kicking ability and how the coach is pleased he is staying.

Ben, How is Rhyce Prismall (brother of Geelong's Brent) going down at Werribee?
Also (if you know) how did the Young Werribee Reserves side go against Hoppers Crossing the other day?
Thanks.

From what I have seen of Rhyce, he looks good but I will reserve my opinion of him until I have seen him play a few more games.
Not sure how our reserves went to tell you the truth, I didn't head down.
