Title says it all.
There's no doubt there has been sub-par scores made in the vast majority of games this series.
Why?

To put simply, the weather across Australia have made it impossible to produce quality wickets, every city has been raining quite a bit, and the one that isn't- Melbourne is using a stupid drop in pitch

All of the above?

Poor wickets, very in form bowlers and out of form batsmen.

Poor batting.
Some of the shots they have played have been disgusting. Gilly charging Vaas on Friday was awful.

If the title was 'what is the main reason behind the shocking scores at the MCG' then i'd vote the pitch for sure :p

But it's not, so it's gotta be the bowling. It's the bowling that had made the batsman out of form, if that makes any sense.

There has been some very good bowling.

Rain everywhere in Australia??

Adelaide "where it never rains"

I would say probably a combination of some very good bowling, some careless batting and at times some slower paced wickets.
As for rain all over Australia, that would be NT, Queensland and NSW only.
Been dry in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne (except for the Indian tour match and the ODI the other night) and Hobart (except for the last week or so) for months now.
Seems to be one of those seasons where fixtured matches have bought wet weather just about everywhere they've been scheduled.
I never mow my lawns here when the cricket's scheduled because I know it'll rain :p

The wickets have been prepared with a little something for the bowlers ... for a change. Batsmen like everything easy and have made a meal of teeing off on the bowlers on unresponsive wickets. They've been made to work for runs and very few batsmen have been up to the task.

Poor batting with a bit of the other two. It's ok to give the bowlers some movement but how about some freaking pace in the pitch for a bloody one day game? These are supposed to be entertaining with batsmen looking to hit boundaries but they seem unable to do so outside powerplay periods due to the ball not coming on at all.

actually, these games are not supposed to be entertaining with batsmen looking to hit boundaries, these games are actually to put two sides against each other, and see who can outscore the other side. theres nothing saying that "You have to play in an entertaining fashion or you lose"

Teams have to do "Whatever it takes" that means if we lose 4 early wickets, then the 5th wicket partnership, may need to slow the run rate down, and make sure that (priority #1 in OD matches) they face out the entire quota of overs.

If you want purely "entertaining" cricket with sixes, boundaries, singles, and the occasional two, go to New Zeland, where they might as well be playing in the backyard (which would probably be bigger)

Good sides find a way to win, irrelevant of the conditions. Australia have (this summer) shown that whilst the batting line up isn't performing as well as would be liked and the grounds/pitches aren't helping our batsmen find form whatsoever, Australia are still winning games left right and centre

Isn't it because all of our batsman have been focused on IPL dollars.

I think the bowling has been very good this series on pitches that have offered a bit for a change. The batsmen, particularly the top order, haven't adjusted and are still trying to play big shots early rather than building an innings and keeping wickets in hand.

It's nice to see bowlers influencing games for a change - too often pitches prepared for ODI's too heavily favour batsmen.

I voted for the bowlers though it has probably been a bit of a combo of all three. whatever the reason i think it has been a terrific series and have enjoyed watching it a lot more than seeing the side batting first making 300 and killing the game.
