The doggies had a top year last year, were unlucky that Knox were so strong because their performances during the year were enough to win them the Div2 flag just about any other year in the past decade. I have them down as premiers, what do other people think???????

They should be right up there again. I believe it will be between them and mulgrave

I also have Sth down as the team to beat. Play a good brand of footy & are well coached. Sides need to make a congested & physical contest in order to knock them over.
Mulgrave would need to pick up few to trouble the Dogs IMO & require Fowler to remain injury free.
Always 1 side that comes from no where & suprises in 2nd Division, & traditionally the toughest Div to call.

No so sure on the 'decade call', Ringwood only lost 1 game not so long ago.

wouldnt say mulgrave need a couple of players to get near sth croydon, they did defeat them last year. I do agree that Fowler is vital to them, hes an ablsolute freak.

Basing that purely on what I saw come finals time in 2007.
A few sides beat Sth during the season but they stepped up bigtime when it mattered. If the Dogs maintain that level then I stand by that Mulgrave will need a few extras, as will all others.

Sth did step up come finals time and very unlucky to not walk out premiers. Mulgrave probably saved there worst game of the year for the final against donny but that is when you need to perform.

Has sth recruited many players or have the stuck with the list they had last yr?

Wantirna sth my chioce they have 5 senior players back who didnt play last year they are Jingles, Kay, TT, paker and their B&F winner in 06 6ft 6 ruckman Bourke, also their skipper missed 13 games in 07 and Phillps 9, picked up midfielder from Southern league runner up twice in comp b&f in div 2 had last year off, promissing under 18s comming up from their grandfinal side, and may be another 6ft 8 ruckman who is traning with them so dont write off the devils.

good to see south croydon come close to winnning it last year. they beat us in div 3 gf and almost went to div 1 in a matter of years.

i think they will be the front runners for most of the year. alot can happen in a season but shoe in a 1st-2nd position finish on the ladder

Given the groundswell for Sth Croydon I would like to see some sort of market framed for the Div 2 flag.
I have a suspicion there may well be some value out there punters. :D

Have seen the Sharks beat both convincingly in the last 2 weeks, with some handy types on the sidelines.

Only 6 sides can be a realistic chance at this stage, & the early favs in Sth Croydon & Mully (must win more contested ball) are looking a little shaky to me.

Doncaster where very impressive yesterday, mully where pretty much smashed all over the park. Donny are genunine contenders.

Mully have only really played well in the 2 big wins that had a home and besides that havnt looked great. Mully Vs rowville next week will be interesting.

sth croydon would have to be pretty dissapointed with there start to the year, sittin on 3-3 and with a crap %.

Wanny sth smashed Donny by 10 goals at there ground apart from the first game they have gone and won every game, they won by 27 goals on Sat they must be a genunine contender.

I found Mully continually went wide, playing a chip it around type of game. I guess there running power is there strength but when placed under pressure it fell apart. Booth probably could do with a little help in regards to another big body up forward.

Sth have got some injuries (didn't they tell us all about it) ;), but still we had some decent types missing also. If there injury toll continues they may struggle to keep within striking distance.

Certainly are.
South were great that day & the Sharks had a horror. WS have many avenues to goal, & don't really have a clear weakness. Look forward to the return bout at Tyner Rd, always a highlight of the year.

Rowville & Montrose also can't be taken lightly, although stop respective full forwards & your chances improve dramatically.

I think there usuall game plan is to use the corridor(may be wrong). The forward has come undone on a few occasions this year. fearon-brown has been used up forward and back and can have great days out(round 1). Probably do lack a plan b up forward

The two noticables that I know:
Eamon Costello has been missing lately, great player & always chops us up.
Paul Rees has barely played for South since crossing, & I believe may in doubt for some time yet.
Lucas Murphy is a massive loss for them. They looked very short up forward & reliant on Michael King (who also normally smashes us), but just didn't have a target. Will be interested to see others thoughts after meeting them.

Any club in that top 6 that has a bad run or an off day can easily come back to the pack. Each of these sides are very good on there day.

Bolter of the season so far has to be montrose. No one really expected them to do much and are sittin 3rd with 5 wins.

still anything can happin, very tight in the top 5 or 6

We will be able to see where Montrose are at next game they play the top side Wantirna Sth, they still rely on Tennant to kick their goals

South Croydon were very impressive yesterday against top of the table Wanni South. In the end beating them by about 7 goals. They got Dinnel and McConnel back from injury but still have Ace(Eamon Costello) out with injury...... whether they will be serious premiership contenders again this year i dont know but they are starting to hit their straps

102 point win over the might of the Ringwood boys!
