Trent Hentschel is listed as 4-6 weeks on the club website. Nick Gill (calf) as 'probably two weeks before ready to play.'

And somewhere I read Greg Gallman has a bruised knee? Something like that...

Midfielder Chris Knights (quad) and key defender Nathan Bassett (shoulder) were yesterday cleared of any serious damage from the NAB Cup grand final and should be available to tackle the Dogs at Telstra Dome.

And, in more good news for the Crows, athletic forward Nick Gill - who has had a disrupted pre-season - showed he was over a calf strain by playing two quarters for North Adelaide in an internal trial on Friday night.
...

Injury list - Nathan Bassett (shoulder) available, Rhett Biglands (knee) season, Myke Cook (hamstring) one week, Greg Gallman (bruised knee) 2 weeks, Trent Hentschel (knee) 4-5 weeks, Chris Knights (quad) available.

From afc.com.au:
Crows Injury List

Chris Knights (quad): Has had further scans which showed improvement but he will not be available to play for 3-4 weeks. Physical performance manager Stephen Schwerdt said: "We will continue to be really cautious with Chris because of the type of injury. If his return is rushed there is a high risk of a reoccurence so his return to full training will be monitored closely."

Brad Moran (fractured finger). Will not play for another four weeks.

Brent Reilly (wrist): Had surgery on Tuesday and will be out for another five weeks.

Robert Shirley (calf): He trained late last week and should be available this week.

Araon Kite (knee): Jarred his left knee playing for Norwood in the SANFL on Friday night. No further information at this stage.

Kurt Tippett (knee): Will continue to be monitored but is expected to be available to train later this week.

Greg Gallman (ribs): Has been cleared of spleen damage. North has the bye this weekend but he should be okay to play the next week.

Nick Gill (calf): Could play this week but North has the bye.

Rhett Biglands (knee): The anterior cruciate in his left knee was reconstructed on February 21.

Trent Hentschel (knee): Now training with main group. Expected to be ready for SANFL return in three or four weeks.

Mackay - season hammy.
Cook - hammy
Sellar - groin
Dangerfield - missed a lot of pre season before christmas with a quad (???)

i really hope Knights can be back in 2 weeks (round 7; 6 might be pushing it), because i remember at the start of the season, when they said it was 1 or 2 weeks, when i knew that something was too suspicious and it was always going to be longer.

i'm thinking that with the break after round 7, those listed as 2 weeks, would probably be given the extra time to recover...ie, back in round 8. unless we are desperate of course.

Douglas: Sprained medial ligament, possibly out a few weeks but more will be known in the upcoming days.

Symes: Walking around with a moon boot. Uh oh. Could potentially be back after the All Star game but you would think it’s unlikely. So much for being close to coming up this week...?

Moran: Injured his hamstring, seems reasonably serious too, will be our at least 3 weeks.

Porplyzia: Needs shoulder surgery but will be managed throughout the season.

Symes starts running this week - still listed as being 2 weeks away from a return (as he was last week).
No progress on Massie & Moran - both listed as being MIA for the same period they were last week.
Cook has reduced from "3 weeks" to "2-3 weeks".

Definitely not a foregone conclusion. He's been out for a while now and I'm not sure how fit he will be having had his foot in a moon boot for a while.

Then there's the question of who to drop if he is to be included. Earlier in the year it was an easy decision - Knights missed the early rounds, then Douglas got injured. Right now, Symes is pretty much our only injured midfielder.

Jacky and Campbell under an injury cloud.

Ruckman Jonathon Griffin, who missed the Richmond clash to rest a sore hip, rejoined the squad for Wednesday’s main training session. And injured Crows midfielder Brad Symes, ruckman/defender Brad Moran and Kris Massie also were involved in parts of the main session on AAMI Stadium.
It was Symes' first appearance since he strained an ankle in the round six game against Carlton at the MCG. He was able to run last week and was cleared to increase his workload this week.

Massie is probably one week away from full training and Moran is also on track to play the weekend after next.
But the news was not so good for two Crows, with Bryce Campbell (knee) and Jarrhan Jacky (groin) leaving the track early.
Draftee Myke Cook continues be worried by some hamstring soreness and the club is taking a cautious approach with his rehabilitation program.

Rookie James Moss, who had minor knee surgery last month, was back in action for Central District’s reserves on Saturday.

I would suggest he would definitely have to come back through the SANFL, might knock Mackay out eventually, however that may be taken by a Hentschel or Gill, he probably couldn't have chosen a worse time to go down, as now he has to force a player out when there's no obvious choice.

Good News
All our hamstrings have healed at once - Massie, Moran & Symes all listed as being available for a return to action next week. Whether that's via the SANFL or direct to the AFL remains to be seen. OK, maybe not all our hamstrings - Cook remains on the sidelines "indefinitely". Here's hoping his recovery follows the same trajectory as MacKay's.

Bad News
The injury list is much longer than it has been in recent weeks, with injuries to Kite, Campbell, Reilly and Bassett since this time last week.

Good News
All the new additions to the list are either "test", "monitor", or 1 week. All short term injuries.

Thought I'd give you all some more info on Cook. His injury situation at the moment is not the same as Mackay in 2007 ...
Cook has not torn the hamstring two or three times (as D-Mac did) and he was actually able to do a fair bit of training before the club chose to head in a different direction with his rehab. Myke was only able to push himself to about 90 per cent before feeling some pain in the leg but there was no new strain. It turns out that he was having spasms in the muscle, so now they are concentrating on getting that right before getting him back into some training.

Hentschel's comeback for Crows delayed
1:30 PM Tue 08 July, 2008

ADELAIDE forward Trent Hentschel has strained a hamstring and won't be available to assist the struggling Crows forward line this week.

Hentschel, who has not played an AFL match since suffering a horrid knee/leg injury in late 2006, was on course to push for selection for this week's match against Collingwood following a sturdy run in the SANFL.

However he reported hamstring tightness to Adelaide medical staff following his game for Woodville-West Torrens at the weekend and subsequent checks showed the strain.

Crows fitness manager Stephen Schwerdt said Hentschel would probably be out of action for a week.

There was better news for Adelaide with Andrew McLeod, who has recovered well since surgery to clean out his right knee, and is likely to resume running later this week.

2-3 weeks for Porplyzia? That's surprising.

Interesting Porp is listed as indefinete, despite apparently being pushed to play this w/e...

The injury list would have been compiled Monday or Tuesday. The announcement on Porps would be based on Today's information.

Interestingly, the club haven't updated the Injury page on the website since last Tuesday.

I only check this thread every week to see if there's an update on Myke Cook. :(

A few people will be pleased that Myke Cook is now listed as a Test, and not Indefinite.

Jarrhan Jacky is also the same.

Was beginning to think poor old Myke was a figment of our imaginations. Best of luck to him, hopefully he will get a game in before the end of the year. It would be great for him to finish what must be a frustrating year off on a high.

Porps is a star!!

I have only just realised that Trent is out for 3.... Is it worth just giving his body an extended break for the rest of the year, he obviously won't play for the crows and I'm unsure on how many games the eagles have left?

I have a dream...

that one day Knights, Reilly, Vince, Porplyzia will all play in the same team.

We seem to get a new injury every week but IF we can stay sound until finals, it looks like Burton will be our only major absence (given Hentschel has been missing for ages).

I wonder how often those 4 have played in the same team? Given that Bernie hardly if at all played last season (can't remember) Porps has only been in the team for a few years and between knights and reilly they've had their share of injuries!

They've played together on 5 occasions this year - rounds 8-10, 12 & 13. Also played together three times in 2007 - rounds 3-5. Only played together once in 2006 - round 5.

So, that's 9 games in total in which these 4 young midfielders have all played together.

Interesting.

IF Porps comes up (albiet 'only' as a forward), it's feasible only Burton will be missing from our best 22 as most would have listed at the start of the year (Hentschel was always gonna be a bonus at best). Though he is no replacement over a career, if Gill can continue some good form, this loss can be minimised.

Comparatively to our competition, that's a pretty good result. We know from bitter experience (pity we couldn't have had a small injury list when we were serious contenders) how important an injury list is at this time of year. If we can scrape into 4th position, it augurs well for a good finals series.

No surprises this week.

The surprise is that Biglands is still on the list. It would look a lot better if he wasn't there.
