View Full Version : Bell VS opposition KPP's
Just sussing out what you guys think about Bell playing on some of the quicker KP forwards in the league. We saw him have a crack at Lucas last year, and I thought he did ok. I can imagine one on one he would get out muscled more often than not, but for the fast leading CHF's, such as Riewoldt, what do you think about giving him first crack at them?

I'd rather see him play on the small to medium sized forwards, like Alan Didak or Scott Welsh. That is where he really excels, although playing on a short KPP wouldn't be a bad option either.

Definitely worth a crack, maybe even for round one on Buddy Franklin. But on Lucas he played the first two minutes, spoiled him once beautifully, got a kick or two and did his hammy so there isn't much evidence from that game.

He should be used on players such as Brad Fisher for example imo.

I like the idea of Bell playing midfield actually, but with our defence stretched as it is...we really do have to play him back there. I think on the more agile, quick off the mark leading big forwards (Franklin, Riewoldt, Fevola) he would be an ideal matchup. However on the big bustling 'get out of my way or I'll crunch you' forwards such as Brown and Hall he would be outmuscled in the one on one's which they love and would exploit. Ah Belly's versatility is great isn't it?

I think that would be a good idea...this year's really the time to try anything. It's not like we're going to be premiership contenders and frankly I think we'd be better for it if we tried such a thing now instead of at a time when we are pushing for a premiership.

I agree with Cowboy. He has done well on the medium-sized forwards such as Welsh and Didak.
If Rivers ever gets fit, then he is more capable of playing on the likes of Franklin, Riewoldt, Cloke, etc...
Although, if we were really desperate, I reckon Bell could do a decent job on those blokes.
Depends on the KPP player and whether they use their strength ie Gehrig or use the running ability like Cloke. he would be suited to playing on KPP who is hard runner as opposed to using brute strength.

I rate Bell massively!! I think he will play on the Franklin's, Riewolt's as mention, ie Cambell Brown. He has a very good tank, not to bad of the mark for spped and has bulked up a hell of a lot too. Then it will leave Rivers to play 3rd tall which he is so effective at!
I think Belley does struggle with the more agile forwards like Didak they seem to turn him inside out to easily.
I hope he does not play midfield he is to vauleable down back, besides we have too many options through there anyway.
Early prediction, Belly for B & F!!!!!! (i am going to cop it arent i??!!)

Early prediction, Belly for B & F!!!!!! (i am going to cop it arent i??!!)Not from me you won't, I gave him a sneaky chance last year when he was in red hot form before he did his hammy and got his head knocked off. I really hope he stays injury free and we can get Rivers alongside him and by a minor miracle Whelan as well.

We seem to agree more & more often CFH (I'm starting to worry), I think this is the perfect option as he can then use his natural athleticism to run of his man & create play from the CHB area.
