View Full Version : TV Karl Stefanovic does it again
Can this guy go 15 seconds without making a complete dick of himself.
Anthony Mundine donated the money made from his fight with Hamdan on Wednesday to a alcohol rehab clinic at St Vincents hospital. Stefanovic then replied that it was about time Mundine started helping out churches rather then mosques.
Anyone see the mistake there. Ah Karl. It takes a special man to make Lisa Wilkinson look like a living genius

Thats what makes it so sad. It didnt fly over her head. She realised the mistake straight away and did her best to try and save him from that idiotic remark. Bless her for trying but there was no saving him that day
The really sad thing is that Karl makes Kochie half-watchable.

Anthony Mundine donated only $50,000 (Still generous though) of his fight purse, not the takings from the fight. It was donated before the fight, so if you think he did not still pocket a shit load himself, your dreamin.

As others have highlighted, Sunrise and Today are awful, awful shows. They're made for simpletons who can't handle "hard" news. They're an abyss of two minute "interviews" and crap about celebrities and how to parent your kids (here's a tip: if you're getting parenting advice from these shows you should put your kids up for adoption).

I think the greatest piece of Wikipedia vandalism was when someone edited the C-3PO page so that the picture on it was a picture of Karl Stefanovic. Sure, the small portion of people who listen to Get This regularly would've found that hilarious. But I can't help but think of the literally billions of other people who would've been absolutely baffled by it.

Williams seems like the sleazy type, not that it impacts his presenting ability. But while on Williams, I remember catching the today show last year and they were talking AFL. Giaan Rooney, a Saints supporter, was also on there. Williams was going on about how the Saints were waiting on the return to the side of Koschitzke. So he asks Giaan if she thought Kosi would get a game, her response, "I don't know.". The problem was, Kosi had already made his return the previous week. This guy makes a tokenistic attempt to give coverage to AFL when he's too Sydney-centric to understand it.

I still remember years upon years ago, Jack Black was on Today promoting the new movie School of Rock coming and he was being interviewed by Richard Wilkins. Richard asks
"Have you ever wondered what itd be like to have your own rock band and play in front of thousands of people at a big concert?"
Jack Black replies
"Wooah, looks like someone hasnt done there research"
Wilkins just sits stares and laughs at him for about 20 seconds in one of the most awkward silences ever. Jack Black staring dagers through him and Richard just laughing and grinning trying to figure out whats going on. He quickly went over to the 2 hosts of the show to start askin him questions. Richard Wilkins is quite possibly the most embarrassing Australian that's ever lived.
The morning after the Oscars he did his usual wrap up, which included getting Jessica Alba, yes Jessica Alba to do a half arsed "Aussie Aussie Aussie!"

The history of Sunrise can be traced back to at least 17 January (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_17) 1991 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1991) when 11AM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/11AM_%28TV_series%29) newsreader Darren McDonald began presenting an early morning Seven News - Sunrise Edition bulletin prior to hostilities breaking out during the Gulf War.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunrise_%28TV_program%29#_note-0)
In 1996, Seven introduced a one hour weekday bulletin called Sunrise News, later renamed Sunrise. Seven recruited Chris Bath (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Bath) from NBN Television (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBN_Television) to present the bulletin alongside Peter Ford (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Ford).[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunrise_%28TV_program%29#_note-1) Ford moved to other presenting roles in 1996, and was replaced by finance editor David Koch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Koch_%28analyst%29). In 1997, Chris Bath was transferred to Seven's 10.30pm News and was replaced by Melissa Doyle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melissa_Doyle)."
"In 2000, the program was replaced by a new version of Sunrise, hosted by Georgie Gardner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgie_Gardner) and Mark Beretta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Beretta), and music video program AMV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMV_%28television_program%29). When Gardner left Seven to join the Nine Network, Anne Fulwood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Fulwood) replaced her for a short time before the show was revamped yet again."
What can be gleaned from the above is that it is not Today that has copied Sunrise. However it still remains a fact that both shows are shit!

If you were to read the wiki articles I linked you would see that Sunrise is the show undergoing semi-constant revamping. Today has run and continues to run (possibly to it's detriment) pretty much the same format for some 26 years whilst Sunrise morphed into it's present format well under ten years ago.

Kochie blames Nine for Sunrise ambush
By staff writers and wires March 18, 2008 02:00pm
LEADING TV breakfast program Sunrise was ambushed by angry protesters this morning chanting "Channel 7 doesn't pay", in what host David "Kochie" Koch has blamed on Channel 9.
If Nine is behind the stunt, it would be the latest salvo in the war between the networks that last night saw accusations fly that Nine was copying Sunrise's successful format to revive its Today morning show.
This morning's stunt happened shortly before 9am as hosts Melissa Doyle and David Koch made their customary walk outside the studio to broadcast in front of fans.
As the pair went to cross to Hollywood correspondent Nelson Aspen, the protesters started chanting, completely drowning out the confused-looking hosts.
Upon the camera’s return to the hosts, a security guard could be seen standing in front of the now-quietened crowd.
After an ad break, the pair appeared inside on the couch, with Mel downplaying the incident and promising the station would look into the protesters’ claims.
Kochie took it one step further however, claiming it was an ambush by rival station Channel 9’s A Current Affair about Seven’s show National Bingo Night.
He told viewers Nine had not even approached Seven for comment and that its ambush tactics were unfair.
Last night, Channel Seven accused the Today show of copying Sunrise after figures showed Nine was regaining ground in the breakfast ratings war.
Figures from OzTam show that over the last five weeks the audience for Sunrise was down 1.7 per cent from the same time last year. Today, hosted by hosted by Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic, gained 11.3 per cent.
Seven said it was unfazed by the figures, pointing out that it still had 50 per cent more viewers than Today.
"Today appropriates everything Sunrise does,'' Seven's director of corporate affairs Simon Francis said.
"Sometimes, a competitor has to copy, and the audiences know which breakfast program sets the agenda - and that's Sunrise.''
Sunrise has now held its position as the No 1 show for 182 consecutive weeks.
Nine later hit back, saying Sunrise was going backwards.
"In reference to Seven's comments, one of those breakfast programs is going backwards and one is making huge inroads heading forwards,'' a Nine spokeswoman said.
"No prizes for guessing which one - it's the Today show. Seven prefers to talk history rather than currency and the fact is the Today show is on a roll.''
This year, Seven is leading the ratings war, having won three weeks out of five, while Nine has clinched two.
Seems strange that the Today show should win back all these fans without changing the format now doesn't it??
FWIW, I rather watch the Today show than Sunrise - that's my parent's influence there. But I am not so blind to see that the Today show is borrowing ideas from Sunrise. Plain & simple!

It's pretty pathetic.
They clearly did it just so they could use the slogan "First at 5:30."
Unrelated to morning TV, but I found the ad for Today Tonight a couple of nights ago quite humourous.
Here's this distraught lady who's about to lose her home, screaming and carrying on because she and her husband couldn't afford the repayments.
No dramatic background music, nothing. It almost came across as though the Today Tonight folk actually cared.
But they couldn't just have the one story on the ad. They couldn't just leave it at that, could they?
So straight after that the happy music starts again with the voiceover..
"PLUS! The best mobile phone deals!"

Bit harsh, Karl would have to go off to the panel beaters and possibly miss hosting Today.

Vintage Today Tonight.
I was baffled this morning on Sunrise, they had a couple of people on complaining about their childcare centre getting knocked down to make way for a 750 bed hospital...
Anyone notice they've reprogrammed Karl's operating system, he now powers on at 5.30am now.
:D
I like Karl & TTS but the robot jokes still crack me up.
As a side note the gap between Today & Sunrise has noticably closed this week.
Won't be long before our favorite AI and his team are #1.

just watched the youtube click of the Stef-bot shitting himself.... imagine getting bitched out by steve jacobs on live tv. lucky he is a robot as a normal man would have killed himself with shame.
Have you seen his brother reporting for the afternoon news? Almost as cringe worthy, his deliver is about as bad Tom Piotrowski's.

Anyone catch him this morning saying that Victorias winds yesterday were "Our very own Hurricane Katrina"? Not only embarrasing but pretty disrespectful.
Okay, this has nothing to do with the T850 but what the hell is Lisa Wilkinson doing a promo wearing a Crows scarf for? Isn't she from Sydney?
LOL I didn't catch all of it, but Stefanovic just pulled off a joke about all Richard Wilkins ex wives. It was to do with Rudd speaking in mandarin, big Karl said he'd been doing a bit of translating, C-3P0 style, and was putting subtitles up and part of it said something about Richard Wilkins and all his ex wives. :D
Wilkins didn't look happy.
He's kinda like the part-time troll of morning television, he's not bad for bit of a chuckle - but only in small doses. Love the way he played this though.

I've been getting up early lately and have turned the TV on almost specifically to watch her. She is super hot.

Stefanovic just moments ago, on news that Rod Stewart just became a father for the eighth time - "Surely he needs to holster it now" :p

To bring up a 3 year old debate about who copied who:
As far as I remember, Today used to be a somewhat respectable show when Steve Liebmann hosted. Then Sunrise came in with Mel and Kochie and basically created the most lightweight television program in existence and somehow managed to get all the ratings. So Today slowly moved away from actually news, Liebmann quit because it started getting crappy, they brought in the Robot and a seemingly neverending conga line of female hosts (remember Sarah Murdoch?) and it's now equally as lightweight and terrible as Sunrise.
Still, if I had a gun to my head and was forced to watch one of the morning shows I'd pick Today. Sunrise is just that extra level of horribleness.
