Just having a look through our list and wondering about those players that haven't yet made their AFL debuts. Every year we see a few players debut for us, and of course, season 2008 will be no different.

The players yet to make their AFL debut are:
-Dennis Armfield
-Clinton Benjamin
-Steven Browne
-Jake Edwards
-David Ellard (Rookie)
-Lachie Hill (Rookie)
-Sam Jacobs (Rookie)
-Aaron Joseph (Rookie)
-Aisake O'hAilpin
-Matthew Kreuzer
-Darren Pfeiffer
-Michael Shields (Rookie)

My predictions:
-We will have 2 definite debutantes in round 1 vs Richmond: Matthew Kreuzer and Darren Pfeiffer. Due to Fisher being out for the first few games, Jake Edwards will get a go too, possibly from round 1.

-Armfield could debut early as he has the body and is ready to go. Has been OK in preseason and could fill a role as a running small defender/midfielder. I don't think he'll play round 1, but he'll definitely debut. I think we'll see him for between 5 and 10 games.

-Browne is an interesting one. Didn't play NAB Cup (not too sure why...) but played last night, and apparently was one of, if not our best player on the night. I know we fielded a young side, but that's still a great effort. Could also fill the role of small running defender. I expect him to debut but not any time too soon, probably 2nd half of the season. I'd be hoping to see him for 2-3 games at least.

-Aisake will make his debut, it's just a matter of when. Definitely not early in the season, because he will be given every opportunity in the Bullants to push his way into the seniors. I'd like to see 5-10 games from him, barring injury of course.

-Benjamin...well, who knows? From all reports has settled in well and been reasonable, and would have played this preseason, except was injured in training in South Africa. We may see him at some stage, but it depends on how he bounces back and performs in the Ants. I'm not so sure.

As for the rookies, I don't think we'll see much of them in the seniors in 2008. Ellard has been played throughout the NAB Cup, which suggests that we see something in him as a small crumbing forward capable of playing through the middle. We might see him very late into the season because IIRC we can have a 2nd nominated rookie besides Jamo, so he might get a game. I can't see the others debuting unless injuries really stuff us.

Who do you expect to see debut in 2008?

Kreuzer, Edwards, Aisake, Pfieffer Armfield, Browne and Ellard will all make their debut's.

Can't see any of the above not playing a senior game this season unless injury take's it's toll.

I reacon Joseph might get a go somewhere along the line too.

OK, so we're 12 rounds into the season so I thought it would be worthwhile to go back and have a look at the predictions.

At the beginning of the season I said: Edwards, Pfeiffer, Kreuzer, Browne and Armfield which have all happened.

I also said Aisake and Benji which look highly unlikely up to this point of the season. Ellard has also debuted.

Revised expectations for this season?

Kreuzer: Kreuze really excites as a teenage ruckman with his work around the ground and even his ruckwork is improving. Had a delayed start to his senior career because of a hip injury sustained prior to round 1 which kept him out until round 3. Has held his spot since then and when he was on the verge of being rested he pulled in a great final quarter performance against Port. Will no doubt be rested at some stage but should be aiming for 15 games at least.

Browne: Back in the team this week which is an encouraging sign that he can work his way back in to the side after being dropped. Shows courage and poise that would be fitting for a 10 year player let alone a kid in his first few games. Coming up for his 7th game, there's no reason why he can't get to around 12 which would be a fantastic return.

Armfield: Everyone has been super impressed by Army since he made his debut vs Geelong. Knows how to find the ball and use it, shows great intensity and pace. He's a very good option for us to play on those pesky small forwards. Has played 3 games but I'm not sure he can hold his spot when the likes of Walker, Bannister etc. all return. 8 games would be very encouraging.

Edwards: Has played just the 3 games and kicked 3 goals after making his debut in round 1. I'm impressed by him but I'm not sure that he's held in as high regard by the coaching staff as he is by some supporters. Hopefully he plays 5 games this season at least.

Pfeiffer: Has played 6 games and been in the emergencies on numerous occassions showing that at the moment he is right on the cusp of our 22. Will no doubt get further opportunities as the season progresses. 10-12 games would be a great return for the man taken at number 1 in the PSD.

Ellard: Has played just the 1 game, against the Eagles in Perth. He didn't do much, and I doubt that he'll play again this year in the seniors. Looks promising though.

All this points to a pretty bright future for the boys if we can continue to blood the youngsters as well as push for a finals berth. :thumbsu:

Dude ????
LOve Armfield, Browne and of course Kreuz
I certainly thing Ellard will use this year to develop his game and realise the big man's game is a big step up. So I hope he gets another go this season but if not am sure he will make an impact in the future!
