View Full Version : Mick was right
I was disappointed when Mick Malthouse stated he would not pick any players under an injury cloud and we passed on Muston for Stanley in the 05 draft and Hawthorn took him with the very next pick. But it seems playing the odds has paid off with Stanley developing well and Muston cruelly struck down with another serious knee injury.

I have no idea about that, although I do think Stanley is a promising player.
However, didn't we select Dawes when he was under a big injury cloud? knee oppo??

Obviously diagnosed Muston as chronic and Dawes as low risk
So far you'd have to say they got both right

Yeah, Dawes has had one knee reco, but Muston has had 2 or 3 now.
it think malthouse's comments were prior to the muston draft, and referred to that particular draft, not to every draft from then on forever.
I said the following in 05:

I never got a straight answer re. how he did it, but it appears that unfortunately for the kid he has chronic issues ala Davidson.
Must be gut wrenching for the lad.
I assume we asked the same questions re Dawes pre 06.

It's always terrible to see a young player cruelled by constant injury.
I hope he gets another shot. He will have to be pretty lucky though if it is another knee.

Sad that Muston has injured his knee again.
This kid would have easily been the standout new recuit this year, had he had played.yet to play one senior game,he has got the talent, but the shonky knees? i don't know, hope he comes good down the track.
Lets hope thats the only knee dawes does. Didn't licca do a couple b4 we picked him up?

No wonder you got banned.
Both Collingwood and Hawthorn took drafting risks. All teams take these risks from time to time.
