Anybody else as pumped at this guy's progression as I am?

Always had a professional approach, but now seems to have taken his effectiveness to a whole new level. Some of those marks he was taking shows he's no longer trying to save his spot in the side, but now considers himself a key ingredient to our success.

Confidence is up.

100% reliable.

Did much better than Croad on burton last night - we've been needing someone like this for a few years.

Yeah, I was impressed with the couple of contested marks. His pace has definitely imporved, because last year he often was left far behind, but last night he was keeping up with Burton.

I thought his general contribution both offensively and defensively were definitely better than last year, which suggests that his fitness has improved as well.

Without doubt his rise in confidence has played a great part as well.

Thought he was only fringe material last year, but may be worthy of the 2nd defensive kp full time.

I hope he continues to surprise.

Agree. Last night he was very solid. I dunno who was playing on McGregor, but he usually kills us.

He was probably top two or three players last night, Croad better pick his act up otherwise we will be calling Gilham our number one defender - he has been awesome.

Croady was bound to be rusty - fine by round 1.

in all seriousness, this guy has what it takes

- cool head
- a want to succeed
- understands where he's at and what he still needs to improve on

He's one of the best selections from the "unknowns" we've ever had.:thumbsu:

Think our defence will go reasonably well this year.

I would think X would start at the HBF, rotating with Tuck on the bench, or Ellis moves up field, and tuck comes to the HBF.

Dew has to be played off the half back line ,with his long kicks into our forward line.

I want to know if he was the loose man though.

Stevie G played a bit stronger than last year. Adelayed did not isolate him in the square like they did in the final or if they did it did not work.

Would like more aggression but SG is starting to grow into the role. Pretty good return thus far from a rookie.

From what i have seen:

Brown Dawson Guerra

Birchall Gilham Ellis

Croad might find himself on the bench or fighting for CHF with Roughead?

Your Joking right?

Why would you think that? Dawson seems like he is improving every year and IMHO Gilham is our #1 defender.

I believe at this stage Gilham is our fullback with Croad to CHB. Gilham is rock solid and rarely makes the positional mistakes and clangers young Dawson does.

I hope this brings about another comment from Becker so that I can see his avatar again.

LOL, i was just commenting on what i have seen so far this year. Dawson hasn't put a foot wrong yet, Gilham is a rock and there is talk of Roughy going back. Croady has been fantastic for us but i see Clarko developing the young defense a little more this year so he might use Croady up the ground perhaps at CHF?.

Time will tell!!!

Going from the pre season alone, Dawson is ahead of Croad. Going on their career, and a safe bet you would play Croad. I am still not sold that Clarko will even go with Gilham at FB come round 1.
