After good performance in 2005 & 2006 the bottom seem to have fallen out in 2007 for rising star. what are the prospects they get a nomination in 2008?

At the end of last year I reckon Conners would have been a good bet, but he has had a limited pre-season.
Best chances for nominations are Hughes, Conners, Riewoldt and maybe Casserly
09' we hopefully will have Rance, Collins, Cotchin all nominated

Conners yes
Riewoldt yes
Hughes please he could not win anything to save himself let alone the Rising star. Plus think you will find even if he finds the ball by mistake that he has been there to long.

This isn't the brownlow medal...besides I wasn't talking about him winning it, but he could easily string together 3 or 4 good 2-4 goals games and get a nomination ala Thurstfield

I reckon JON and Danny Meyer will win. Thye are both superstars who have just had a lot of bad luck with their preparations.
No flaws in their games just need to be healthy and both will probably share the brownlow

Why do you insist on being such a knob. I think you are Pav For AA and now that Deledio is a confirmed gun (and Mundy is going backwards), you are looking for some easier targets.:thumbsu:

casserly play on the hbf and they got plenty who can do that gig. he will be battling with moore, mcguane, king and a heap of others. even jon got a game in the back half before him, so he must be low on the pecking order.

Rancey can be my man then, more of a 2009 prospect though IMO:thumbsu:

Mate, dunno about you but I certainly would give a rats!
Scenario 1) - We go through the whole year with no nominations...
Scenario 2) - We get the likes of Connors, Edwards, Rance etc nominated and perhaps even win the thing. Means our young kids have "taken the next step" and improved enough to be recognised.
Gee I know what I would prefer.
Probably means nothing, but the last two winners of the Rising Star did play in the Grand Final last year...
I'd like nominations more for the players sake than anything else...gives them the feeling that someone outside the club is appreciating their potential and efforts. Kind of like the Thursfield nomination last year...it smacked of tokenism, but he deserved it for the consistent efforts he'd been putting in all year, and it would have been a good feeling for him.
Connors didn't get a nomination last year, did he? If not, I reckon he and Casserly should be pushing for one this year. I don't know who else is eligible and will get senior time, Cotchin I guess, but the other two should be playing a few senior games this year.
