Kicked 9 goals today for Coburg against Bendigo as they won by more than 100 points.
Looks like the Jack we want to play for the Seniors is starting to come out!

and didn't bendigo have 0 afl listed players...
and didn't bendigo have 0 afl listed players...
not sure. i've been trying to find that out myself. the four rookie-listed kids played in the NAB match against the saints, so they wouldn't have played. whether the new kids like myers and pears would have had a run is doubtful.
According to SEN he kicked 9 goals.
It seems it could have been Mitch Morton who kicked the 9 not Jack.

Thought I would give a rough run down on the game today Coburg won
25-17-149 to Bendigo 7-7-49
No injuries that i noticed
Coughlan, played all bar the last 10 minutes in the centre was in everything looked good got plenty of the ball no problems with the knees
McGuane played whole game in the back line
Riewoldt played full forward, was told at 1/4 time to play in front got plenty of it but missed at least 3 that were bread & butter kicked at least 2
Connors serviceable game without standing out
Morton played forward got plenty heard one of the Coburg people say that he had 6 at half time got a few more after that
Polo was in everything
JON, Edwards, Casserley, Graham were other ones I noticed out there. All played well, but when you win by 20 goals it's hard to pock a bad player.
By the way the Bombers didn't have any Essendon listed players playing although Brett Hartigan was playing for them, was one of there better players
Was speaking to one of the Coburg people who said that Gourdis had played in the reserves earlier and was looking good just had to get used to the pace of the game.

You mean Riewoldt Cogga? If so, then no seems his haul was the 3 goals mentioned above but it does seem like Morton had a good day, albeit against a second rate VFL side, so I would expect them to dominate games like this, the more pleasing news from my part was Cogs played the majority of the game and got plenty of touches, just the sort of confidence boost he would need.

What do you mean by that? Morton only played 12 games in 3 years for us, not many WC fans wanted him to stay.
He performed plenty of times in the WAFL too (one game from memory he got 29 disposals and kicked 5 goals) but he always struggled to bring that form to AFL level.
All the best to him, but don't expect too much.

Why? Morton was a grade-A Tosser and thought he was god's gift. and thats the only reason he was kept out of the side

That's because some of his WAFL performances warranted it. His AFL performances did not.

I take back what I said, just typed it out of boredom.
It's his own fault he didn't succeed at the Eagles.

Exactly... Bendigo has the worst home grown talent in the comp. Without Essendon listed players they are no better than an a B grade EDFL team.

I for one didn't want him there. Especially after hearing about the saga he and his old man caused down at the club. None of my mates "raved" on about him either. The only good thing Mitch did at West Coast was being taken by the father son rule when we may have wasted a high pick trying to get him if he wasn't eligible.

I went along and had a look Saturday, Reiwoldt played well, good target up forward. that was correct about the Bombers, no Essendon players playing, so probably shouldn't read too much into it.

Pertty average. Got a lot of it but it is the same old chesnut with him, poor decision making and disposal.

the thing is that what you expected is what you got. That is the pleasing thing. 9 goal haul is what I expect from an AFL class player, playing in such a game. Now we have an AFL class player. ;)
Its funny how some on here post stuff like;
'Ohh, only against Bendigo reserves'
'No AFL-listed players means jack shit'
Think before you type, our AFL-listed players should be having performances like that against that level of competition, I'd be worried if they were having quiet games.
^^^agree with sante, you'd be worried if he didn't get near it all day day, not for kicking 9:rolleyes: (almost a third of the total goals kicked)
also lmao @ all the opposition supporters coming in trying to deningrate morton because of past issues etc...instead of posting broad generalised shit, why not back it up with the actual details of his 'attitude' or 'problems'
posting "after hearing about the saga etc" is just bullshit, back up your posting with actual examples fellas, then a proper discussion about Morton can be had:thumbsu:

While it is a great performance to kick 9 in any game, my point was refering to how many times we have seen our players cut a VFL side to pieces then do nothing when given the chance at AFL level. I'm just hoping that Morton is not another one that gets added to that list and until he comes out and kicks 4-5 against an AFL side I'll keep my excitement in check, been burnt too many times in the past.

dont want him to kick 4-5 against an AFL side. 3 or 2 a game for 15 games is ok with me. 4-5 once or twice and we are back to what we are used to. Waiting for an eternity because it happened once. Ala the sarge. ;)

I get what you're saying and I suppose I should clarify my point a little more, when I said kicking 4-5 against an AFL team, I meant we should save the hype for when he does that, but will be happy to see him with an average of 15 odd possies and 1-2 goals per game for 22 weeks.

there is hype and there is hype...he kicked 9...he didnt kick 3 or 4...he kicked a bag...we havent really seen or heard of anyone kicking a bag for while in the VFL or beyond. The hype is justified...top pick..getting a bag...is good. Top pick fnding his feet, needs to develop, needs time needs this needs that, isnt. Had he had a quiet 3 then we would be saying, you beaut..he got amongst them..good opening for a kid. He didnt get amongst them, he tore them a new one. So we go from there. ;)

IIRC didn't Jay kick 9 last year against Tassie, so are we back to hyping him up again.
As I said AFL players tearing a VFL reserves sides a new one is all well and good but I think I'll stick with saving the excitement until he and others start performing consistently at AFL level. After all who really gives a rats clacker how well Coburg goes, I mean they played a GF last year while Richmond won 3 games for the season, so VFL form really translated into AFL form didn't it.

Facts are that with Browny, Lids and Pettifer sewing up the mid marking forward posts, both MM and JR are going to have to put their best foot forward to get a game or alternately look at being a little versatile as they wont be starting ahead of the first three:eek:

he kicked nine which is more than we would have hoped for and all people post is "so he should".
Geez, lighten up people.

I read in an earlier post that Gourdis played in the Coburg reserves and still had trouble with the pace of the game.
That pace would be slower than a good local game!
Hope he picks it up soon.
FWIW, its pretty impressive to kick 9 as a HFF/Midfielder

I'm not saying it isn't impressive, what I am saying is that I will be more excited when he is getting 15-20 odd possies and 1-2 goals a week at AFL level while playing in a winning Tigers team.

LMAO...naa man, what you dont get is that there were better options playing at Coburg but we couldnt rock the boat when it came to the Cotch!!
I mean give me a break, the same hacks who have been there for eternity were there in the seniors doing what they have done forever. **** things up at the most inopportune moment for us. If we needed the next to get back in the game, yep they got it and yep they would **** it up. It became so predictable it was comical. I mean, i lost count at how many times i turned to the mates, just when Tivendale or Tuck or Hyde got their hands on the pill and said, now watch this, turnover on the way, and 9 times out of 10 it happened. Like even I couldnt believe how predictable they were. It was a good laugh. Oh..i forgot Captain turnover too, he rapidly moved into the number 1 muppet seat. ;)
