has anyone here been to see practice matches and the intra club matches? if so, did anyone notice a distinct difference in game play from PSM to ICM?

because form the sounds of things no one has been able to notive any difference in game plan in the practice matches....

i have a feeling mick is not unveiling his new game plan till the season proper...
(this is not wishful thinking... i have the upmost faith in mick the great.. and am hoping, since he is a keen follower of the art of war, he is not showing all his cards yet).

You know I kind of agree with you. I have no basis for my thinking... but I just get this feeling that Mick/we have been holding back.

I honestly dont think you can suddenly just start playing to a certain plan. It takes lots of drilling and practice.

Is the off season long enough to get it right?

Yes it is, but the point is that I dont see us trying any new game plan and if we are waiting to round 1 to trial it then it will be a disaster.

Yeah I reckon the same. While the topic is up I actually have a sneaky suspicion that Mick is transforming our list into an entire race of super human footy players that will be unleashed on the competition in Round 1, wreaking havoc and destroying everything and everyone in its path.

Just thinking out loud...

Actually ,maybe something could be brewing.
I spoke with my brother earlier,he went to the port practise game,he did say in his mind the only player really trying was rhyce shaw, even pendlebury was not really trying.Didak was playing with very low intensity ,so maybe we are trying to save ourselves for round one.
Like brad scott said after this weekends game, the real aim was to get game time into the younger brigade, moreso than win the game(s)
Scott did also say the entire nab cup (practise games) have been designed to practise the intensity and work up to playing 4 full quarters instaed of playing 2 quarters of high intensity footy and dropping off, asy in the second half.
The pies seemed have used each practice game to play one quarter of high intensity, then work up to 2 quarters then 3 and by this week play 4 high intensity quarters to win thre game,it's a gradual build up.
Possibly that's what we are trying to arrest come the real games, not like last year where we would play 2-3 quarters, high intense footy then drop off and get over run in say the last quarter or the game cost us beacuse we would drop off in one quarter and get beaten.Well we'll see what happens.

the fitness question baffles me as we seem to be travelling the world in search of it. The other sides appear to be fit enough without having to go to these extremes. I think we are fit enough too but may have compromised our skills in doing so. I saw the game on sat and we were simply outclassed, not at the end, but all day. We tried like mad and this alone got us very close a couple of times. I thought we were gutsy.
