View Full Version : A big thumbs up to the membership department
As some of you maybe aware, I have been critical in the past of the clubs lack of effort in trying to tap into the lucrative MCC members that barrack for the Hawks - which numbers around 10,000. Well, they've finally bit the bullet and asked the MCC to send out membership application forms to MCC members that nominate Hawthorn as their prefered club.
Its good to see the club leaving no stone unturned in order to gain more members.

they should also be commended for contacting the supporters in regards to if things have been recieved. Last year i recieved a call asking if i had recieved my renewel form, and this year (yesteday) i was contated and asked if I had recieved my membership pack

Hawkk I have been involved on a voluntary basis with the mebership department for the past decade and we have sent information to the MCC memebers every year that i have been involved. The club is relying on details from the MCC for this to happen so they may not get all the right info. Very few have ever joined up from the MCC because there is not any benefit for them.

I have been an MCC member for 20 years and never received a scrap of info from the Club.....until yesterday when a letter arrived from the MCC on behalf of the Hawks asking if I would like to receive information from the Hawks like membership, club updates, events and so on, to send back my details in a reply paid envelope or fax my details, a great innitiative and hats off. Yes things are a changing me thinks!

A friend who signed up the same day as me (early November), and people who have signed up well after me (med-January) have received their membership packs, but I still haven't received mine, so I put in a call to the club this morning.
The girl I spoke with said that they had something like 25,000 to send out, and they went to the mailing house on Feb 11.
They are apparently sending out around 2,000 per day.
She also said that I should have my pack by the end of next week. If it is not received by then - I might give it till the Monday to be fair - I will be calling back with my "NOT HAPPY, JAN" voice.
I'd like to know in what order they're sending them out - certainly not in order of payment!

I have heard that the club is more interested in sponsorship than membership anyway - coz it makes us more profit. So i dont think it is fair to bag the membership dept.
I have heard that they pay to get the best people in the sponsorship area - and the membership areas is small and just run by a few guys who are loyal supporters and dont cost much money to pay.
