PATRICK Swayze is suffering from pancreatic cancer and only has five weeks to live, according to reports from the US.

The Ghost actor is reportedly suffering from a particularly vicious form of the cancer, which has now spread to his other organs, and is not responding to treatment.

After being diagnosed with the disease in late January, Swayze - who is a fully qualified pilot - has been flying his private Beechcraft aeroplane to Stanford University's highly-respected cancer centre in Palo Alto, California, for radical chemotherapy.

However, the three doses of chemotherapy failed to significantly shrink the tumour, and doctors have now told the 55-year-old to prepare for the end, according to the National Enquirer magazine.

A source close to the star said: "He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure.

"It's time to start praying for a miracle."

Swayze - who is married to actress Lisa Niemi - has lost more than 20lbs in the last few weeks, and is surviving solely on a liquid diet as he is having trouble keeping down solids.

Reports are yet to be confirmed, and a representative for the actor told BANG Showbiz: "I don't know anything about this, I'll have to get back to you with more details."

Sufferers of pancreatic cancer typically have a survival rate of less than 5 per cent, but as the cancer has spread to Swayze's other vital organs he has an even lower chance of beating the disease.

Swayze first shot to fame starring as bad boy Johnny Castle in the hit 1987 movie Dirty Dancing before going on to star in a host of hit films including Ghost and Point Break.

To me this doesn’t sound like some tabloid junk, it sounds like the real thing and he has chosen not to release any information.

He was awesome in City of Joy, Youngblood (with Rob Lowe), Ghost (for a chick flick) and in my opinion his best move was Point Break

Very sad news. Was never much of a fan of his movies, City of Joy excepted. At least he has a chance to say goodbye to family and friends, Heath didn't :(.

That's terrible. You're right C98 - I haven't seen City Of Joy but he was excellent in Ghost and the underrated Youngblood.

Best of luck to him in finding his miracle.

The OP's link is an exaggeration. Swayze does have Pancreatic Cancer, but he is reacting well enough to the treatment, and is continuing work on two films.

Hope he beats the cancer all together. Great actor.

All credibility went out the window for me when I read the bit about the info being quoted from the National Inquirer!

the "5 weeks to live" part comes from The National Enquirer, it was right next to the "Elvis was abducted by Aliens" Story....great reporting there from our Australian media.

The latest is as said above. he has pancreatic cancer that is in the early stages and is responding to treatment according to a statement from his Doctor.
