View Full Version : Patrick Swayze on the way out.
Only has 5-6 weeks to live due to aggressive pancreatic cancer. This has me so cut up. He is one of my faves. Never really took any notice of him untill i saw 'Next of Kin' where he plays Neesons brother, great movie. Roadhouse, Donnie Darko, Ghost, Dirty Dancing.
Its such a strange situation to know that hes going to die soon, with Ledger it was out of no where and in all honesty I didnt care to think of it so much after that as it was depressing. But now with Swayze I can say without a doubt i'm going to think about this several times a day untill he is on his way.
**** cancer.
I read that article as well and I was a bit worried. Turned out the article was a bit of a beat up, and while he does have cancer, it's still at the treatable stage.

You should check the data relating to this particular cancer.
It's very sad mate.
A Pancreatic cancer diagnosis is quick and certain death.
No way out.

Not quite right, although there is no such thing as a good cancer.
I know of a few blokes who got the pancreatic variety in the cancer lucky dip and all lived to tell the tale. Also the same flavour that Simon O'Donnell beat.
What stuff's Swayze is that the cancer has spread to other organs and 3 rounds of chemo has failed to fix him.
But nobody puts Baby in a corner.

You have to be very, very lucky.
Only one in twenty five make it to the 5 year mark, post diagnosis.
Due to difficulties in diagnosis, the intrinsic aggressive nature of pancreatic cancers, and the sparse systemic treatment options available, only approximately 4% of patients diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma will be alive five years after diagnosis.

I thought SOD had lymphoma
I thought SOD had lymphoma
Right you are.
Best be changing my original comment.
I know 3 blokes who dodged a bullet with lymphoma. My dyslexia is to blame and stand corrected.

And I will be watching Ghost thrice.
Or not.
Too soon?
Bad humour aside, whilst I'm not the biggest Swayze fan I hope he pulls through, just never the way to go. Wouldn't wish that pain and suffering on anyone.
The article about how drastic the situation is was bullshit, but either way he's in a bit of strife. Not surprising though given he was a chronic alcoholic for a lot of years.
I never believed in omans until I heard this news following up the death last sunday of his Roadhouse counterpart and allround great guitarist Jeff Healey. At 41 I might add.
