Thomas' scissor kick got me wondering if any other club has a similar number of freakish performers - ball-skills-wise - as we do. Thomas, Didak and Leon obviously, and I think I'd add Medders and perhaps in time even Clarke. What it means is that probably most weeks during the comp, one of them will do something uncanny, and maybe some day all will fire up with extraordinary spectacles. What a beautiful thought. Has any other club got such a muster?

Ive just finished a video for the Brisbane supporters club of one Peter Daicos, and no doubt none of these blokes are close to as freakish as him.
He is speaking at the prematch function, if anyone is heading up should get a ticket.

by the end of his career i reckon dids will be up there, if not better than diacs...

:thumbsu: Hope it is a GF day. Look at Daicos 1990 GF inspirational goal that set the scene for the rest of that game. Would rely on Dids and Thomas before Leon in a final, cruel I know, but true. BTW what about Trav, a couple of absolute gems last year. :)

We seem to have a surplus of freakish players right now. Leon Davis is one of the most freakish players I have EVER seen. Last year alone he kicked at least 4 goals that were better than Lloyd's GOTY. Some of the stuff he does just leaves me with my jaw wide open.
Didak is a freak, Thomas is a freak, Medhurst is a freak, Clarke is a freak, Pendlebury is a freak (in a different way).

In fairness to Leon, he is a totally new player now compared to back then. A much more consistant contributor. He has proven he won't go missing in finals: Touches from Leon are more valuable than touches from most -
18 touches, including 12 kicks and 10 tackles against the Eagles .
14 touches, including 13 kicks, a goal and 5 tackles against the Swans.
11 touches, a goal and only 2 tackles against Geelong.
2002+3 combined in 5 finals = 30 disposals, 7 tackles, and 8 goals. (kudos to him for the goals - he kicked 3 in each game against Port).

Dids is amazing there's no doubt and if could do a torp like Daics then you might be onto a good call there. Alan's soccer strike that went for a point last year would have been in the top 5 of all classic goals. And his right foot one where he positioned and juggled in the goal square was genius too. I'm actually surprised it wasn't goal of the year because he summed up the situation brilliantly by making body contact to his opposition a few seconds before the ball was in the area in order to get space.

Des Fothergill and Peter Daicos are our greatest freaks. They reached a level that only one current player may reach - Dale Thomas.

Out of the current players we have, the obvious 3 standout 'freaks' are Didak, Thomas, Davis, after that Pendlebury has a touch of freak about him, Cloke a little bit so does Medhurst, Clarke, really at this level they are all freaks but two freaks who will announce themselves in the future I reckon are Dick and Egan as well...
Thomas, Didak, Davis a large margin from the rest though, constantly getting their freak on... :p

rioli and the davey's have some pure brilliance and freakishness with their speed and ability to read the play off a big pack... watching them swoop on a ball mid air and then snap all in 2-3 steps is amazing...
daicos is the ultimate freak... but current day players like farmer, didak, burton and even mark williams from hawthorn are prone to some pretty amazing goals and marks.
Ok here's one from left field - Shane O'bree. Yep! He's the only player I know that can kick a left foot torp! ..... (and that happens when he's trying to kick with his right :p:D)

I'm not sure if many other people try it but i know me and a few of the boys at our footy club try to do left foot torpedos with our right feet after training when mucking around... they are extremely difficult as they have to come off the inside of the foot with the leg moving from left to right where if anything everyone has a natural right to left movement of their leg...
Bucks was a freak.
