Hawks fined for extra man

The Hawks have been fined $7500 for having 19 men on the field during last Saturday night's NAB Cup semi-final against Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
When contacted by the AFL earlier this week, Hawthorn acknowledged the error and provided a written response outlining the circumstances.
Brent Guerra, who was listed to start the last quarter on the bench but began the quarter on the ground, gathered two kicks in the field of play and took one kick-in after a behind had been scored by Adelaide.
He'd been on the ground for approximately four minutes when the error was realised and he left the ground through the interchange area.
Under the AFL Regulations and Laws of the Game, a club can face a range of sanctions for having extra players on the ground.
If the Crows had called for a head count while Guerra was on the field as the 19th player, the Hawks would have lost all the points they had scored up to that stage of the match.
Imagine that!

Maybe we deliberately put 19 men out there so we can have our score reset and lose :P
If the AFL weren't busy investigating Roos, they prob would of investigated this 19th man incident.

I don't think we wanted to lose, especially when we had a Campbell Brown suspension to eradicate. If anything should be investigated, it should be us attempting to cheat, not that I think that was our intention.

Was only tongue-in-cheek with the losing part. It's an error on our part and we got fined and that's it. But the AFL do like to make a big deal of incidents.

This happened to my footy team a few years ago. We were winning by 3 goals and at the start of the last quater a player who was suppose to be on the bench started on the ground. The team picked up on it before we did and we were stripped of all points. We lost by 12 goals in the end. :thumbsd:

true but if it was going to happen [ by accident of course] i'd rather it was the nab then the season proper if there was something that the punishment was linked to the season proper then i would not be happy at all .
rather it did not happen to be then there is no fodder for the feral opposition supporters to yell at our team

Isn't it ironic that NAB spelt backwards is BAN...That's exactly what they should do.. Must be a message there somewhere!!! :)

How rude. Wasnt even our fault and we lost.
Supposedly the AFL are paying for interchange officials in the NAB. You know the guys who give out the numbers per substitution? Surely these guys could atleast look at the number on the damn bench! Hawthorn coaching = Stupid, AFL Officials = Stupid

Thereve started already on us with that Demetruio already fining us doesnt he already get enough millions in pay and them Adelaides crying that we had the extra bloke when they already won the game. Some one would of made a mistake thats not our fault that Guerra was on the ground and he neve kiked any goals so Im already sick of Demetruio. Demetruio only wants money so I recon Jeff and Ian Dickers should give him money and shut him up for good and leave us to winning the premiership.
