SEN launches their new footy radio show, Off the Bench tomorrow morning from 9am-11am.

Have heard that Buddy will be on, doing a rare interview after 9.30am to talk about the Hawks match against Collingwood tonight and the Hawks' pre-season to date.

Heard this show last year when living in the country and it was actually very good.

Its hosted by Pickers and Hutchy if i can remember. Great guests and topical issues every week.

It'll be good to hear Buddy in an interview, dont think i've ever really heard him speak besides the post-match interviews his done on the ground after a win.

I caught some of it...

Hutchison & Pickering were asking the cliche questions and a few probing ones but Buddy played a nice straight bat.

from memory..

How do you handle the hype?
Doesn't phase me, just looking fwd to playing and doing my best and let the rest do the talking.

Which of the youngsters has impressed the most?
Rioli - v handy, need that crumbing fwd, esp when the ball is being banged in long, was missing against Nth, he's the one.
Thorp also, pretty impressed with his size and mobility.
He didn't mention Tuck but that's a given, so is Morton for that matter.

Other young fwds?
Thorp/Dowler look good.

Stewie Dew?
Dropped weight, reached desired fitness level, level head and virtually a defensive coach on the ground - good stuff.

premiership threat?
Team is doing the right things but still have a long way to go and still have a lot to learn - very nicely played.

Goal kicking?
had dunstall as GK coach now it's someone else, been working on it but still needs to improve, said he actually kicked 1.12 v Doggies (Morris touched one)..ha ha

collingwood opponent last night/

Harry o'brien, said he did a good job and knew him from the U18s, Buddy ended up with 3.3 after missing a few early ones so he was relatively happy. Said it would have been nicer to have Mitch, Lewis and Crawf gettting some clearances.

Nothing overly inciteful but the questions were pretty bland and repetitive. He handle it v well for a 21 yo entering superstardom.:thumbsu:

Jesus!

He had Dunstall as a goalkicking coach last year!

Sorry piggy - you don't cut it as a coach. Seriously - look at Dunstall's goalkicking action and then look at buddy's - do you think Buddy listened to a single word the fat man said!

It wasnt last year, it was for a brief period during this pre season. Where do you see quoted he was buddy's coach last year anyway? Sorry leather... you dont cut it as a poster - get your facts right before make a statement as such :p

hahaha thanks sav.

Just had this image of piggy and franklin lining up for goal super-imposed on each other and had a laugh at how diferent they were.

I think we need someone whose style is similar and more effective to teach him.

Hey guys, just wanting to know for DT.
Been following the Hawks pretty closely over the past couple of years and there are a few players I want to have but not sure which ones will be certain starters. I'm looking at the cheaper, young players like Eliis, Muston (was before his injury), Tuck, Kennedy, Morton, Bailey, Thorp. Which of these would you pencil in for round 1?

Probably not the right thread for this mate, but lock Tuck in for round 1. With Crawford, Lewis and Hodge missing, Kennedy and Morton are possible starters, depending possibly on the fitness of McGlynn. Thorp and Bailey are ones to watch in the second half of the season once they get a proper fitness base. But yeah, get on Tuck. Cash cow.
