Lethal was voted the best player of the last century and hes been pipped with 4 years ( 2 of nothing) in the start of this century.
All bias inside, I wish Sheehan held adultery higher:thumbsu::)

Here's my view - forget the extra B&F's lethal won, premierships etc than carey - here's a simple stat.
Wasn't carey a fwd and that was it.
Didn't lethal play as Ist rover/ pocket for the first 10 or 12 years and then move to a more permanent fwd role - however still played mid when needed.
Then if carey was supposedly the greatest CHF and best player ever then how come lethal averaged 2.75 goals a game over 332 games while carey only averaged 2.67 goals over 272 games.
Seems to me lethal beat him at his own game.
Then we have peter hudson who scored the same amount of goals as carey and did it over 129 games (carey 272 games)!!!
I know who I think are the truer greats.

Carey was a great player but lethal did it all and over a longer period and in different positions as stated. Tough job picking 50 but this contest should have been easy. Lethal Leigh No1.
i think i was alread convinced with leigh interesting there is an argue ment for hudson> carey
hudson got named as 16 on sheanans list

No Peter Knights is a shocking omission. The prototype attacking CHB and was also a very handy CHF in his time. Injury robbed him of a Brownlow. An absolute gun of a player.

Mike Sheehan? That was a guy that "had" some football credibility, and some knowledge of the game...Right?

I guess we can debate this until the cows come home but putting the errr bathroom indiscretions and all the other stuff aside if you purely concentrate on football Carey was a fantastic player... Dont we all remember the celebrations when you heard that Carey was a late withdrawal when playing us. I can remember doing cartwheels down the hall in the early 2000's when he was a late withdrawal against us on a friday night at the G and we rolled them by 10 goals :D

Sheehan is a knob. But remember people these are HIS opinions, everyone else has their own opinion.
Fabulous

I agree 110% BB.
But the Herald-Sun would have done this based on how many papers are sold not on what is accurate.

Was the greatest player to watch, and I'd have him in my top ten.
Bartlett must still shout MS a cup of tea now and again, and obviously put something in it so Mike would put him the top ten.
