Most had us around the 10th to 12th mark.

Going on our four performances to date (of which two were against teams many would expect us to beat), I reckon we'd be lucky to get close to 14th.

Honestly, whose going to be down the bottom with us?

Carlton - have looked decent enough.
Richmond - soundly beat us and have gone on to win a couple more.
Essendon - great NAB Cup run, youngsters all coming through, older heads up and about.
Adelaide - might win the thing.

Strap yourselves in lads. :thumbsu:

Knowing our beloved Demons, we'll come out and thump the Hawks in Round 1, with the Russian collecting a lazy 40 possies for good measure.

I still have us as 10th to 12th, although it's easy to put us much further down the ladder.

Our midfield is the problem. We turn it over too much and we don't run hard the other way. If we can get the turnovers down then we will be FAR more competitive.

A backline potentially missing Rivers, Whelan, Bartram and Wheatley isn't going to keep many teams down either.

If anything, our midfield is our main weapon but only if they're up and about.

The midfield is only up and about when things are going well. When the other team puts on some pressure they go to water. They need to learn to work even harder when the pressure is on.

I see Carlton and Richmond better than us.

Both have keys targerts up forward in Richo and Fev. What do we have? A great servant of the club but he can harldy move.

Jeez I tell you what Nathan Jones must be getting prettty fustrated.

3-19 boys, with wins over Essendon, Richmond (rd 22) and Western Bulldogs.

We're a disorganised rabble at the moment

I discounted the other two, but these two would make a difference. Having said that, Rivers is never fit and his body shape is ordinary.

I liked the look of Nathan Jones. In fact on the rare occasion Melbourne went forward it was usually on the back of him. McLean wasn't bad either.

I was worried before the season how the dees would go and im even more worried now i know there only practice matches but things dont look good.

The backline is a real concern but its been shaky for a few years now.

Im still excited for rd 1. But most ppl will be tipping us for the spoon this year and rightfully so.

Thats all that needs to be said. I agree about your defence but there isn't a need for alarm bells just yet. We won by over 50pts yesterday and even I came away from the match disappointed about a few things, so it pays to remember it was just a scratch match and both teams obviously still have a few things to work on.

I love this kid Jones he is going to be a star should be outright fav for captain next year and will win the B&F this year if Junior don't again :thumbsu:

No chance.

I happen to know for a fact that he'll be down playing his importance in 2008 because he's working his way over to "North" Melbourne in 2009. :):p

Sandringham played immediately after Melbourne.

Rivers played on and off the bench. Took some great marks in the backline. Seems he never loses his class. Can't wait to see him back in the red and blue.

Finally some of you are starting to admit we are a rabble at the moment. A few of us noticed it in the first nab cup game, but finally some of you are starting to get it.

We will suck bottom four is now locked in. List needs a serious overhaul, cant wait for the axe swinging and trades happening already. Bring on the 09 pre-season!!

Play all the kids, tank games, i dont care just make sure we have the first pick in next years draft. We need a serious star or a franchise player. Someone to get everyone through the gate just to watch him. Cause this year is going to be a financal disaster. Thats my main concern how much debt we are going to get further into!!

Let bails do his thing like i said give him the "terry wallace five year plan" and if he hasnt done nothing by then give him the ass. But when you have the list players we have. unless we get high picks or draft very well, we are going to need a 10 year plan!!

Does anyone know who has replaced craig cameron as our r.o?

They have a lil thing callled heart and spirit, which we have little to none of.

Thought i saw it in a final against the saints two years ago. Disappeared the next game against the dockers and hasnt been seen since.

Let me know when you see it next ok:p

Melbourne team vs StKilda elimination final 2006.

B: Whelan Holland Ward
HB: Rivers Carroll Bell
C: Green Bruce TJ
HF: Davey Miller Pickett
F:Yze Neitz Robbo

R: White McDonald McLean

INT: Sylvia Jones Bate Jamar

Look familiar? We are only missing Pickett, TJ and Ward. Neitz, White and Yze are older and probably wont be as good as they were then but the rest of the core are still in their prime years. Sylvia, Jones, Bate and Bell were only minor players in 06 and should all be much better this year.

My point is we may be good this year and we may be shit but this talk that we are certain to be bottom 4 or no chance at finals or whatever else is just a bunch of bitching by jaded supporters at this point.

Nobody takes regional praccy matches seriously except maybe Col. You will know in round one how much heart and spirit we have.

It's called a joke mate. I'm sure most got it.

I have to say though, I won't be hanging crap on Melbourne supporters again. There were some pretty decent examples of the female gender wearing Melbourne jumpers.

There sure is, I can tell you :D .

As for the doomsayers here, I'll say we'll be bottom 4 when we're say 0-5.
Practice matches don't mean much at all.

Dude, I think you are just starting to get it. Many of us have understood that we have already started to embark on a rebuild.

No too much other stuff amid this speil that many posters have previously disagreed with anyway. What many posters have said is that you can't get too carried away with some of our praccie losses with so many new players. Your point about getting rid of more players is kind of obselete as many more seniors will finish at the end of '08 anyway. We've already embarked on a fresh start but you can't just get rid of nearly half your team in one go.
